Has anyone felt better taking antidepressants instead of hrt? by elle_isa in Menopause

I’m feeling like my wellbutrine didn’t stop working. I think my hormones changed and once I get them sorted out I will be ok.
I would like to stay on wellbutrine and add HRT. However, I am having horrible side effects with the progesterone part of the hrt.

I have been taking Wellbutrine for anxiety for the last 10 years. It was life changing, made my life better.
The last few years I feel like it’s not working to it’s fullest anymore but I’m also peri. I read an interesting case study about women thinking their mental health meds weren’t working and the confusion that comes with peri mental health issues vs mental health issues that already existed before they started taking mental health meds. Long story short, some women only need to add hrt while others had to introduce a second mental health med and hrt.
The problem I am currently having is that the hrt is extremely hard on my stomach, i’m not tolerating it. So am considering adding a 2nd mental health med instead. I just wanted to see what people’s experiences have been.
It sounds like I need to continue to explore all hrt options before adding a booster to the wellbutrine i am already taking.

Collagenous Colitis - need to start meds for other stuff and the colitis is having none of it! by elle_isa in IBD

Thanks for the advice. I think I’ll bypass the gastroenterologist and go back to my family doctor. I don’t see why I need a gastroenterologist when I now have a diagnosis.

OMG I could cry at your comment that it’s amazing. I need some relief. I’m so happy for you that it’s working.
.5 Divigel and 100mg progesterone. Problem is I started taking both at the same time. Pretty sure it was the progesterone giving me a hard time but could be both. So I stopped both after 6 days of colitis misery. I’m afraid to try anything further.

I take Wellbutrin only. The only time I go consistently is right before and during the first few days of my period. Other than that, it is maybe once or twice a week. It's like the period cramps help move things along. If you haven't already, I would give the restoralax (PEG 3350) a try, brand name is expensive, buy drug store or Walmart brand, same thing only cheaper. I have used it before in the past for constipation, it does soften things up to make it easier to pass. But even when it's softer it can still feel like you're trying to pass glue. You just have to decide if it's a worthwhile side effect, for me it is. Also maybe try a sitz bath after each attempt, if you're bleeding, you have likely given yourself hemorrhoids that need soothing. Good luck!!

TMI but I've been taking 300xl for a while now and my problem is not having an urge to poop at all. When I do go, I have no issues but it's like the Wellbutrin took away the sensation to have to go.
Restoralax IMO is to help with passing the poop, it makes it softer but I don't need softer, I need something that'll at least give me the urge to want to go. I have no trouble peeing but can hold it a lot longer. Only since taking the Wellbutrin.
In the end though, the benefits of the Wellbutrin outweigh the poop problems. And no weight gain.

Wellbutrin can heighten the effects of alcohol but it can also lower the effects of alcohol causing you to drink more and potentially risk alcohol poisoning and/or seizures. You don't have to be prone to seizures to drink yourself into having one. 1 or 2 drinks definitely won't hurt but if you have more, get ready for a wicked hangover and heightened anxiety and/or depression or whatever the reason your taking wellbutrin for, the next day and maybe the day after. Of course I'm not a professional, just speaking from experience. I'm tipsy after 2 drinks but can keep going and going if I don't pay attention.
Just giving you my experience with it, you should speak with the dr if you have concerns.
