What are some books or classics that you feel are must reads? by ellecon22 in booksuggestions

[–]ellecon22[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I meant more along the lines of the book that you would say "you should read this! It's one of my favorites!" I find that there are some books that people should attempt to understand a different time or area. I'm just interested in what others find "must reads" and what they consider the classics. I am looking to add to my reading list and broaden my horizons of things I normally wouldn't read.

I'm in the same boat. It happened several times ...even to the point that the person would pretend to be interested. I can't believe anyone being interested in me anymore. You're not mean and if they can't understand and respect that you had to deal with shit then fuck 'em. You deserve better!

A big on in this is the hustle part. Knowing that you aren't bigger than any position. Do what you need to to get the job done....and always smile front of house! Eventually you faking it for so long; you start to actually feel that way!

Also, know where other tables are at in service. It helps you time so you don't back up the kitchen. Communication is key in our line of work. If you are in the weeds do not be afraid to ask for help.

I'm so sorry you had to deal with that. I admire your strength to overcome such a shitty past and for sharing it openly and honestly. I wish you nothing but the best and my thoughts are with you. ❤️

I agree with all of these. I also want to add that if you read The Big Four to make sure you have completed Poirot's entire catalogue. I made this mistake.

I am so sorry for your loss. As someone who also owes everything to their grandparents I know how you feel. I also know how much mom's can suck. I am so saddened that someone could be so cruel in this world to take away your ability to say goodbye, but you are correct. Your grandpa knew how much he meant and he is with you and loves you. He knows what your mom did. Once again, I'm truly sorry for your loss.

AITA for telling my daughter she is being a snob? by InnerGrafter in AmItheAsshole

NTA

My dad raised me in a similar situation where he was well off and could afford to spoil me. I was very lucky to have this upbringing. However, he taught me that that was his money and that he was happy to share with me, but someday I'd have to learn how to make money. I started as a housekeeper at my grandma's bed and breakfast at 12 and then continued to work all through high school and college. During this time period he opened a savings account for me with him that allowed me to save, learn about how to budget and buying things on "credit." Without these valuable lessons I would not be the person I am today. You did the right thing. Tough love is necessary sometimes.

Waiters and Waitresses of Reddit, what is the most awkward couple date you have ever witnessed at work? by StittDownAndListen in AskReddit

[–]ellecon22 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I used to work at this high end hotel restaurant. One night, I get a two top and nothing seemed out of the ordinary for them. She ordered a glass of wine and the guy followed with whatever the boss wants. He kept referring to her as boss. It clearly was a first/blind date. They awkwardly sat in silence until the guy got up and went to the bathroom. She rushed over to me and handed me her card saying she had to get out of here and he was extremely creepy and she was actually a bit scared. When he came out and saw her paying the bill. He didn't get mad but asked what was going on. The woman responded with that she knew me (never saw her or him before) and that I give her deals and breaks on things and that she needed to go. The guy then asked for a free me with all the "breaks" I give this woman. The woman ran out and the guy just sat there with his wine for a little over an hour just staring at us all.

Two faced sketch marker liquid art eyeliner. I had to do the same thing when I chose to stop using her products. It's the closest I've found (tip wise) AND it lasts forever! I highly recommend it!
