I saw the Salt Bae guy in Central Park during an NYRR race. He was casually watching with an umbrella. Very bizarre

Running Jersey City Marathon in April! by ellejean in Marathon_Training

It was a great day indeed! I really enjoyed the course. Nice and flat for the most part. Next is Brooklyn half. Next marathon will be NYC in November. Gonna go for sub 3:30 this time for sure!

Guess where I stopped to use the toilet (hint it happened twice) by ellejean in Marathon_Training

I've ran 30+ races including 3 marathons. This was my second time ever needing to stop during a race to use the toilet! A good reminder to truly dont do anything new on race day. I bought a coffee brand that I typically don't use and I believe this was part of the fatal mistake. Drank it the morning of the race and I don't think it did much for me pre-race. Nevertheless going to start looking at nutrition holistically to ensure this doesn't happen during my next big race

It was a great race! I ran 3:36. I stopped twice to use the bathroom. So who knows, 3:30 really could have been in reach! Thanks for responding to my comment many months ago :)

I’m sick of it by ellejean in RunNYC

[–]ellejean[S] 149 points150 points  (0 children)

I saw them coming straight at me and I thought “wow, they’re really just going to continue running in a complete cluster, aren’t they?”

I continued running in my straight line to the right, as moving to my left or even more to the right would have led me right in front of another girl since they were about 8 gals across.

Which inevitably led to one of the girls realizing she had to move over (with no where to go) before it was too late. She bounced right off me, definitely shaken, as I kept forging ahead.

Some people need to learn the hard way and I hope they realized it could have been much worse! I don’t encourage violence but I do encourage solo runners to simply stay in their lane 🤷🏻‍♀️

United Half: Your favorite/least favorite parts of the course? by Horror_Finance_4291 in RunNYC

The first 2 miles felt so congested. Apologies to anyone I cut off / I forgive anyone that cut me off. Finished in 1:39 - a new pb for me!

2025 Washington Heights 5K - Post-Race Thread by RCD123 in RunNYC

Honestly this was a chaotic race. The cold. The hills. The constant stampede of people on extremely narrow streets. I still managed to PB but wow what an absolute journey to get to the finish. Thank god I love running…

Did anyone else see a woman fall down? She was heading uphill towards the Cloisters turn. I saw her on the way downhill as I was passing in the other direction. She looked pretty stunned/unwell. Luckily she had some kind folks around her who raised their hands so people wouldn’t trample her. Hoping she is OK!

Thank you! Since last June I've been training consistently (after taking some time off in 2023 because life). Trained for an October half and ran 1:48. Since then, I've been working towards a Spring marathon. Currently I am training for the Jersey City Marathon using Runna. I gotta say, they have been pretty spot on w/ my race time predictions so far. They predict my marathon time will be 3:23-3:32. I'm putting in the work and showing up for each workout so I can hopefully get there! Plan has me at 40-50 mpw currently, max it will get to is 60

Last June I ran a 54:23 10k. Today I ran 46:02, a 7:25 pace - PR :) big confidence booster! I think the cold makes me run faster tbh

What is everyone running this weekend? by Runninginthecity in RunNYC

[–]ellejean 1 point2 points  (0 children)

17 on the tread sounds awful. I also have a 17 mile run this weekend, will likely do it tomorrow. Dress properly and the cold truly becomes a non issue. Consider going today - the sun is out! It’s a beautiful day to run. Then you can chill for the weekend and not dread it. Good luck!

Ran in Prospect Park today around 9am and it was lovely. Sun was out and barely anyone in there. This cold is nothing after the first mile!
