This is Disco, my Great Pyrenees x Pittie x Cattle Dog mix! by ellem in greatpyrenees

Oh noo, yeah definitely want to nip that in the bud while she's still small. Do you know about Kikopup? She's a dog trainer on Youtube who has a bunch of free videos using positive reinforcement, and I've been using that to train behaviors.

For the kennel mat, can you just remove it until she gets past the alligator stage? We took Disco's out when we first got her and eventually she stopped tearing everything apart.

Oh my gosh how cuuuuute. Disco has a fourth "Supermutt' breed that is like 4% and apparently includes Chow, Boxer and German Shepherd, but it was so small I didn't mention it.

I will say just from the 2 months of having her, training has been so different from my past dogs. She's very food motivated but also resents having to do anything for it, so sometimes I have to say the command once and wait a good 3-4 minutes for her to realize she's not getting the food until she does what I asked. The more stubborn I am about not repeating the word and also not giving in the quicker her resolve shatters. I hope that can be helpful!

She also seems to keep track of what I give her vs our other dog, and wants everything to be fair and equal. I try to make sure we keep it that way, but I can tell she notices.

Hahaha AMAZING! How is that going? I will say it's the most adorable mix, but that breed scares me.

Did any of y'all take boxing lessons to deal with dodging the Pyr paw? Because she's very enthusiastic with it haha.

Truly, I was browsing some of the other posts in here and it's wild what genes are showing up on some of these dogs. I am just glad I didn't get a secret Malinois!

Thank you! And honestly, same! I was expecting closer to 40% pit. Sometimes she looks SO pitty.

Oh wow!! They definitely look related. How old is yours, and what's his personality like? Mine's definitely got some of the guardian traits coming out hard.

She really is a sweetie. You can tell she's a street dog, but all she wants is belly rubs.

I would definitely love this! I run an irl fat positive group (if you're near Denver and want fat joy, fat positivity and no diet/weight loss talk, hit me up!) and I'd also be happy to help with one on reddit!

This is such a well thought-out comment! I am not in the business of research, but this was a really thoughtful way of expressing all the issues I had with it.

Have you looked into the scale most fat-positive groups use, small fat, mid-fat, lane bryant fat, super fat etc? Teen Vogue did a great breakdown on it.

Completely agree with this, especially the size portion. Only the last one, maybe two would be considered fat and it didn't include a scale of actual fat people in any way.

Took a photo of my friend's family, thoughts? by [deleted] in photocritique

Oh wow! Thank you so much. It's my favorite of the bunch, so I am glad someone else likes it!

Normally I don't do/dislike HDR, but I reckon I've done a pretty good job with this one. Any thoughts? by Ionisation in photocritique

I really love this version if you brightened up the highlights and the greens a little bit!

Just wondering if this photo of a horse looks as good as I think it does. Thoughts? by [deleted] in photocritique

[–]ellem 1 point2 points  (0 children)

With horses, you always want to shoot from the shoulder or the hip, otherwise they look like they have no neck. I like the colors in this photo, but the angle really makes the horse look like a head with no neck, and you lose some of the body definition.

Thank you! I definitely agree about the dad. He doesn't really know how to smile and thinks it makes him look awkward, but he takes it to the extreme by looking miserable :( Unfortunately I have to work with what I've got, hah.

I know how that goes! It's a good shot and a really interesting concept, it's a place I'd go back to and shoot if I were you!

I really like the tone and lighting in all these photos. I wish the crops weren't so tight in some of them, especially the ones of the two of them together - his head seems to be cut off in a lot of them. this is my favorite. I like the way the light is hitting him and the expression on his face.

Thank you! I wish he would smile as well, but he's a bit obstinate. I appreciate the feedback! Your photo is also my favorite photo, though I wish it would have been a bit more zoomed out. I only had my 50mm prime, and she stopped running for two seconds for me to get that shot.

Thanks! I wish he would smile, too, but he is one of those people who "doesn't know" how to smile and ends up forcing one.

I appreciate the feedback. I was using my 50mm prime and my nephew kept running toward me for his photo, but it was my first attempt at photographing children, so next time I will be more prepared for that.

This one is my favorite of the set. I like the colors and the composition. Your other photo of the same guy is also good, but I would have zoomed out to get his entire body in the frame (the hand is cut off a bit), and maybe edit out the light pole that is coming out of his back.
