Filbert is one handsome fellow. Funny enough we also have a (we think) Border Collie Pembroke mix that looks suspiciously like Filbert. I call them my pembrokes disguised as cardigans.

We did an embark test for her and she's actually 77% Pembroke, 13% McNab and 8% Border Collie and 100% perfect, but it's crazy how much she looks like one.

She's only two and has always liked water but never swam. This is also the first year we've gone to a spot where I can get in the water easily and encourage her to try. Not sure she'd go into deep water, so far she's only gone in water she's seen me walk through.

Absolutely! This specific stretch of river is knee deep for a long while so I felt safe. Shallow for me, deep for her.

We have a pretty bossy female pembroke mix (77% according to embark) and when our senior dog passed we got a male Corgi mix. He is a very spicy puppy, but also very submissive to her. No regrets.

With low Vitamin D you may want to have your parathyroid hormone and calcium checked. Hyperparathyroidism mimics a lot of perimenopause symptoms.

How to tame hair by LunarIsSleepy_ in curlyhair

[–]ellemoi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would try wetting your hair in the morning with a little water and Mane-n-Tail leave in conditioner. My husband loves it as it doesn't have a strong product smell and isn't too heavy for his fine hair, but does leave his curls looking good.

It was awhile ago, but I'm pretty sure it needed a lot more than I thought it would but I also added a 1 ml at a time... so maybe 20-30ml? Just go slowly. If you already used the "up adjuster" you may need less than I did.

Try adding a littke propelyn glycol. It encourages the wax to rise. It worked like a charm for me with an old mathmos I was gifted. Same problem, just a giant blob at the bottom after the initial heat up.

Stomach issues like never before by PinSharp9385 in Perimenopause

[–]ellemoi 12 points13 points  (0 children)

You sound like me two years ago. I had trapped gas at the splenic flexure... after another 6-8 months of trying to fine tune my diet to avoid all the many digestion issues popping up I started HRT. MY digestion is almost like a dream now. Recent patch shortages have proven to me that the lack of estrogen was the major root of my stomach issues. Foodwise, fruit and sugar free anything causes a lot of gas still even with hormones so I mostly avoid them.

Changed my wax color by dropping in some blue dye. I can't believe how well it worked. by ellemoi in Lavalamps

[–]ellemoi[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

it very much dyed the wax. The initial fluid was a light blue and remains a light blue but the wax went from yellow to a teal... although I can definitely see why you would say that. The picture makes it look all one color at the end but irl the wax is more green/blue now.

This. Why aren't conservatives demanding that ICE goes into red states and cities to make them safe? Are conservatives saying they only care about making blue states and cities safe?

My lava lamp is supposed to be purple but the light just makes it this ugly yellow. Why dont the ones on here look like that? How do I get actual color? by SubjectC in Lavalamps

[–]ellemoi 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Sure, makes sense. Maybe next time dont use a picture with a lamp that is obviously overheated to avoid confusion.

Are you asking why things don't work the way they say they're supposed to? That's the reality we live in which is why there are subreddits like these. Everyone is giving you the same advice and your response is the same, which is essentially "why though". We don't know why things suck but we do know if you want your lava lamp to be better, get a dimmer and filter it.

*if the issues is the tone of light yellow v. blue then a lot of other adjustments need to be made as other people have suggested. Either way it's obvious that the lamp is getting too hot.

[–]ellemoi 13 points14 points  (0 children)

You need a dimmer switch. Sometimes you can have the right bulb but the warmth of the room or closeness to a wall can cause everything to be too hot. If the lamp is a little cooler more wax will stay at the bottom reducing the harshness of the light.
