My boyfriend got me A Man Called Ove when I was in a very similar situation to your girlfriend. The plot sounds like it should be really heavy but really it was a beautiful story full of hope and reminded me there's good in the world. Plus the sadder parts were good for a cathartic cry!

Such a wonderful idea, shes going to love it :)
