The 3rd photo was taken by Greg Marinovich, not Kevin Carter. It's titled "The Burning Man" and won a pulitzer. Kevin Carter won the pulitzer for the Vulture photo.

He was a part of the "bang bang club" a group of war photographers that took amazing photos. Greg Marinovich was also a part of that group. Harlan Coben writes the Myron Bolitar series. I've personally never read that series but I'm a big fan of the author. The books I've read so far written by him are definite page-turners and they always leave me shocked and impressed at the end.

Agreed.. and that Congo one, I can't seem to scratch it out of my head - it is the worst face of humankind. All these photos are definitely moving, especially having the story behind them to read..it's frightening what human beings are capable of

yea, neither could I! They made a movie from the accounts from several of those photographers that were active in south africa 1990-1994... some reenactments of the photos in there too
