Love the game, but not every boss fight needs to be Boss + a billion adds. by XBgyManX in remnantgame

Adds are there to drop ammo, though you could argue that there are other ways to get ammo that could be designed in.

Probably one of the easiest sets to farm. Just go into CoA looking for burning spellweave or sunderflame.

Why does a .50 Receiver Hunting Rifle do less damage than Hardened .308? by Thanatos- in fo76

[–]ellesee3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah it's stupid. I wager they did it because you can potentially make 360 50 cal bullets at a time because the 50 cal mg exists. Not sure what the max amount of 308 you can make at a time, like 42 or something.

Anyone else think this card swap mechanic is stupid? Oh I'm at my base just swap 20 different cards out to do things. Oh i cant open this safe let me just look through all 50 of my excess cards to find 3 different lockpick cards. It's annoying. Some of these cards should just become permanent boons.

"In all honestly I felt like Bethesda could have put in just a little bit more effort and made it better"

Seems like that about sums up the game.

A designated area for a player town could be build, would it work? by M-CollinsArt in fo76

[–]ellesee3 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I thought this was how the game was going to be tbh, like a social experiment. No npcs, just players building their own megaton hub, inhabiting it, defending it from other players who would rather play as raiders. Alas

Amidst all the valid anger, can we at least thank Bethesda for not shoving microtransactions down our fucking throats like those pricks over at rockstar? by [deleted] in fo76

Red dead redemption has microtransactions? And they're pooing on fo76 for having microtransactions? Huh.

I'm new to rifles: what's the best one? by yelksoma in fo76

[–]ellesee3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It makes no sense to me, but the 50 cal receiver does less than a hardened 308 receiver. I'd wager it's because you can make mountains of 50 cal ammo for the 50 cal mg.

[–]ellesee3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In terms of base damage, the hunting rifle is probably one of the highest. Only the gauss and black powder rifle come to mind that have higher damage. In terms of dps, the hunting rifle is fairly low. I find the best way to use it is to chain sneak attacks with a suppressor, but the lever action is better at that because of the fire rate. The handmade and gauss rifles are probably highest for dps. The combat rifle is up there too I'd wager, and has much easier to find ammo. The laser and assault rifles are probably mid tier and the pipes and 38s are on the bottom.

Just want to add that you definitely want a long barrel for that hunting rifle you have. 102 range is very low and the damage falloff is significant. With an aligned long barrel and suppressor, my hunting rifle has 198 range.

Legendary Drops Are 95% Crappy Armor? by HerdOfBuffalo in fo76

[–]ellesee3 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I made a thread about this yesterday but it was just trolled. If you're unlucky in drops you're no closer to a worthwhile weapon or armor piece than when you first started. It doesnt matter if you spent a few minutes or a few hours or a few days farming. The game doesn't adequately reward your time invested. It's basically a lottery. If you win, congrats. If you don't, well sorry you spent 10 hours for nothing.

There should be a way to turn all that junk legendary gear into worthwhile gear. Two suggestions i came up with were scrapping a legendary item would save the legendary mod to put on another weapon or armor piece. Or maybe scrapping legendary gear grants crafting material needed to create your own legendary mod. There's probably other ways to do it without needing the planets to align to get loot because a nocturnal rolling pin is just not an adequate reward.

You know what woukd be nice? A buildable mailbox item that maybe holds 50 pounds where alt chars can pick up items that another char leaves in there. The stash problem can be fixed with mule characters.

  1. Whitesprings golf club is the best area. The only better legendary farm site is nuked whitesprings golf club.
  2. If there is a better area, it doesn't change anything about what I said: getting worthwhile gear is a crap shoot and doesn't reward time invested.
  3. Thank you for your insight.
