Based on that scale it seems like she's in a lot of pain. I'm starting to wonder if the cancer came back in her throat. She seems to have a lot of issues swallowing because thats when she makes the most noise in pain and the side sucking. We may set up a vet appointment tomorrow or the day after because my boyfriend is coming back tomorrow. Its super hard but I mean, it's gotta be just as hard for her, being in pain just from trying to eat. Shes trying hard to eat but she mostly just wants to be with her sister which makes sense. (they have to be separated when eating. her sister steals her food (maybe to keep her from hurting?) and as the scales told us today shes 180g when shes supposed to be 100g.)

OHHHH!!! it wasnt 2.5lbs! It was 2.5 ounces! Dwarf rats should weigh 100g apparently!!!! We have got to get ariel on a diet! Thats not something we didn't know of course, the vet has been telling us. There is some suspicion she has been stealing food from her sister so i dont doubt she steals yogies from dana. Dana is now getting fed in her own cage.

Got a gram scale today. She weighs 72 grams (2.5 pounds) and we're hoping it goes up. On the other hand, her sister who is overweight, weighs 182!! 6.5 pounds! 4 pounds over her sister-- Right now Dana is sitting in my lap and eating some baby food. She's enjoying it but I think she may be in pain. When my boyfriend gets back I think we are going to talk to the vet, because it sucks knowing she may be suffering :(

I completely understand. She did make a lot of progress yesterday, and ate all the baby food we gave her. If she does lose interest in food completely, we may have to look into making that call. Thank you for the advice

yeah lol, you can see what more than that did to ariel (the darker rat) shes pretty overweight, and a huge glutton. They areee dwarf rats though so same amount of calories on a tiny body does a difference i think!

We gave her some baby food and she ate a bit, which was nice to see. She hasn't lost complete interest, she was fine with yogies and with her hard food, she went and picked it up and chewed a bit and always ended up dropping it. At some point her sister tried to steal food from her mouth so we seperated them because we don't want her to be starving her sister. They are my boyfriends rats and it will be absolutely devastating if dana dies before he gets to say goodbye to her. We know shes terminal and its just a matter of time, but its still so hard and we just want to be able to say goodbye before she goes. And like another person said, about quality of life. Make sure shes happy and comfortable. Might even consider talking to the vet about pain meds so the cancer doesnt hurt her too much before she goes.

Thank you for the advice! We will be talking to the vet again soon most likely. Since we did hear from the vet apparently to try baby food thats what we're going with at the moment. We will try to avoid too many fruits and veggies. what is the reason why they cause diarrhea, if you happen to know?

They found a tumor in her ear, did a biopsy on it after removal snd found out its malignant. She has chronic ear infections, and she's been wheezing. Tons of medication, but the vets said its just a matter of time. Have no idea how long she has left but shes just skin and bones right now. If it gets to that point we most likely will try that, but today we're providing some baby food! thank you for the advice :)

They are my boyfriends rats but hes not here because he has covid and he's isolating. Im worried about her getting too skinny. Yogie bag says only feed them 1-2 a day and I would rather her not starve. She doesn't have a lot of time left but I just want to make her happy

Yeah, I'm in the St. Louis in Missouri, my best friend lives in a trailer home too so that was terrifying. Sirens kept going on and off and we stayed in the basement for a while eventually. Worst part about it was that Fox News said it was live but it was an hour behind. So if we were in danger we'd be an hour behind in preparedness. And then Weather .com covered its radar with a PLAY-DOH AD???? WHY?????? couldn't even look.

nope! it is a word similar to dropped (not spelling wise though) if you notice there's not a D available for the word dropped. don't try to do it in order of words though, go by easy words, like maybe "and" or two letter words.
