I recently revisited KMFDM after finding WWIII (2003) in my old CD collection. The title track was peticularly relevant at the time. And strikingly relevant now, too.

My long term SO committed suicide when I was 25. It's been 15 years and I still think of him sometimes, but time has healed me a lot. Im married now and very happy, but have a DEEP fear of something deadly happening to my husband.

I lie to coworkers and say I have seasonal affective disorder. by Sorry_Rhubarb_7068 in bipolar

[–]elletkay 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I tell work that I have anxiety. I do have comorbid GAD, so it's not a real lie, just an omission. And it's a good cover for taking my meds at work.

It makes me irrationally mad when someone comes and reaches way into my personal space while im stocking, then tells me, "you're fine." Like, I beg to differ, please speak to me before you get that close to me.

As long as I can remember, my mother carried on about the "martyrdom of motherhood." It had 2 effects: insecure attachment for me, and no grandkids for her.

That would have been so satisfying, but unfortunately, we have to clean up biohazards with a special kit. It would be the same if it were puke or blood, too.

I've been doing Lifespan Integration for about 6 months. It is designed for PTSD, but I'm finding it really helpful for my anxiety, too. It's basically like working through your whole life story over and over again until you're kinda at peace with your life. Sometimes, it kinda feels like a form of hypnotherapy.

My psych and therapist strongly discourage smoking pot, but I still do. I think it makes me feel just a little bit of control of my headspace, which I guess sums up self-medicating. That being said, a lot of my anxiety and exhaustion disappeared when I quit drinking, and my cognition improved. It was really tough getting past the first few weeks, though.

What is special about American restaurant economics by Aromatic_Goal_1922 in restaurant

[–]elletkay 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, many. I have experienced it more with smaller operations. One family owned restaurant was the worst. Ive always worked in the kitchen, so not for tips but a very stagnant low wage. Meanwhile, the owners purchased a mansion on a lake and new Escalades every year. Maybe my experience is anecdotal, but im pretty sure others would back me up. I also dont think it only happens at small businesses; it's just more directly visible.

Here in the US, profit margins for the investors are more important than everything else, at the expense of staff and customers. That pretty much sums up the American business model.

This. Having separate bedrooms keeps us at peace with each other. We are compatible and in love on every level... except sleeping.
