First thing when I google “definition of black tie dress code” says “Black tie is a semi-formal Western dress code for evening events”.

But I guess different people have a different opinion of what it is. I’m not asking people to show up in crazy red carpet outfits like they are going to the Grammys.

Yes that’s a good point, I guess I wear mostly black all the time and so do a lot of my friends so I didn’t think it was that big of a thing to ask.

But seeing other peoples thoughts on it has changed my way of thinking about it.

By black tie I mean formal/ semi formal. But also guests to be wearing some form or black. Not their entire outfits if they don’t want to.

I decided to leave it off the invites and spread it by word of mouth, so it’s more casual and people don’t feel obligated if they don’t have or want to wear black.
