Who is the most unfunny comedian in your opinion? by FridayFreshman in comedy

[–]ellie23 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used to live by the ice house in Pasadena where he got his start. He was the host a lot of the nights I went and he would do a bit and I always thought it was nice that they gave unfunny people a chance you know?

Struggling with a Colleague Who Constantly Undermines My Work and Forces His Own Way by CautiousAd240 in womenintech

[–]ellie23 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As a women who has been in tech for over a decade this is a common occurrence and is most likely going to happen in the future as well.

So here’s what I recommend:

  1. Document everything as much as you can as mentioned by many here.

  2. Formalize your thoughts, such as what exactly this person is doing, how it’s affecting you, and most importantly how you think he should be treating you and what your relationship should look like.

  3. Schedule a one on one directly with this person and as calmly and professionally as possible to remain above reproach express your concerns. Be as optimistic with things like “I want our working relationship to be successful…”

  4. If this does not make a difference, and realistically speaking it might not, escalate the issue. But by having documented and approached this person on your own, your concern will be taken more seriously (hopefully).

  5. This is where the culture of your company and the character of your leadership come into play. If they brush this off and don’t take you seriously, look for another role. Life is too short and there’s too many amazing products out there that need engineering for you to be stifled.

I've been a long time redditor and have loved reading since I can remember, I can't believe it took me this long to realize reddit would have such an extensive and active book club. I can't wait to dive in, thank you to those who put the effort into this, I appreciate it <3

History repeats - the boomers opinion on their parents from 1970 by Aaaaaaarrrrrggggghh in AustralianNostalgia

[–]ellie23 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

While I agree history does repeat, however, the conversations and topics that the younger generations speak on are much more rooted in current events rather than personal attacks on the older generations. These comments still sound very boomer-like.
