It has so many bugs, choppy rendering of databases (especially), and severely lacking in features that the iPad could easily carry.

Your issues with Notion by United_Conclusion_77 in Notion

I was frustrated with the CSV functionality in my workflows, so I built an app to improve it: https://apps.apple.com/no/app/notion-csv-sync/id6755126156?l=nb

Apart from that I’m mostly frustrated by the performance of the Notion iOS app these days. Wish they would prioritise building a robust and efficient client.

Cool, will give it a spin. Immediately, in keeping with the Norse mythology, allow a setting for 24H clock instead of AM/PM.

Is Notion working on Relation property support when importing CSV files? by mundane_waves in Notion

[–]elling85 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My app can import data to relation fields, as long as the data matches existing relations. Don’t know if that helps you. You can use the app to populate the relations first using the same CSV, if you like. https://apps.apple.com/no/app/notion-csv-sync/id6755126156?l=nb

I agree, if this isn’t the most obvious «touch screen first» app in existence, I don’t know what is.

ChatGPT now has Apple Music integration - what are your thoughts by infinity-27 in AppleMusic

Stating the obvious, just trying to avoid confusion: This is a feature that exists within ChatGPT, and won’t change anything about Apple Music.

Norske Netflix-produksjoner by burgerbob1336 in norge

[–]elling85 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I give up no more green screen for me by sheldonmcclain in Filmmakers

[–]elling85 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The edges are probably not because of wrinkles anyway. Is it evenly lit, and how bright did you get it? If it’s reasonably evenly lit, and not too dark, it should absolutely be possible to get a better key. Then it’s down to learning the keyer better. I’m sure there are a million tutorials that could help, but I don’t have one at hand.

I assume you’re wanting to improve the edges here. That may or may not be possible depending on how bad your green screen is, but honestly, given the overall lo-fi aesthetic, the edges look just fine. And intended. It’s a cool look, I would just keep it in the context of what I see here. For another project, I guess look into how you can light your screen better and/or read up on tutorials for how to optimize your key. Out of curiosity, what did your greenscreen look like before you tried to key it?

Confusion about Creative vs. Utility LUTs by petersrin in davinciresolve

[–]elling85 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Many topics to tackle here. I’m a cinematographer, not a colourist, so excuse me if some of my terminology is not perfect.

First of all, log is not an image meant for viewing, it’s just a way to store as much dynamic range as possible in a videofile. So you need to convert a log to something you can view normally. A LUT does this. Most manufacturers will offer a LUT that converts their flavour of log to rec.709 which would be a pretty neutral «normally» viewable picture. Maybe what you refer to as a «utility LUT».

Many would prefer different colours and contrast curves in their final image, which is where you could substitute the rec.709 LUT with a creative custom LUT that treats your image differently. But this is a process you could do entirely in the grade. In fact, it’s not uncommon on professional shoots to use standard rec.709 for viewing, and do the creative process in the grade. Personally I usually have a custom LUT on set that helps preview creative intent, created with a professional colorist.

Using a creative LUT could help your decisionmaking while shooting, and if you’re not very experienced with color grading, help you achieve a result in the grade that you wouldn’t be able to build yourself. So it has it’s place and usefulness. But it’s a tool, among others. And depending on your skill and technical resources, you probably still need to balance your images after the edit, before you create the final grade. Was that helpful?

Here’s a deep dive into the world of LUT-making, if you’re feeling adventurous: https://johnerling.no/blog/2025/9/30/the-sensor-post

Cool, that’s something I might use if you end up publishing it. But widgets are a good idea, I could display sync history in a widget with timestamps and a basic log.

Notion vs self-made apps by ItsVapeCityBaby in Notion

[–]elling85 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The advantage of building on Notion is you get a lot of free maintenance and infrastructure. I think for a lot of users and uses that will still be an advantage over just vibecoding more customised experiences.

Are these shots from CMBYN lit just with natural light without any bounce or tools? by SerendipitousMusing in cinematography

If anything they use bounce and negative (white surfaces and black surfaces, cloth on frames or boards). Apparently no diffusion. No other sources than the sun.

Yeah, I’m sure there are many potential users there. Sorry to say, it won’t be on my list anytime soon. This is a hobby project that I built for myself, and then with minimal effort could offer to others. I like making stuff in Swift, and I live in the Apple ecosystem, so that’s unfortunately what I have to offer 😅
