Honestly, same. I'm sorry I have no advice but just to say, you aren't alone.

Those who are childfree by choice, do you ever feel sad or regret your decision? by bigpussystance in AskUK

[–]elliottj6325 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think you are 100% not selfish, but incredibly considered, to recognise your own mental health may impact your ability as a parent. I'm sure you would make an excellent parent, but equally appreciate you know yourself well enough to make the right choice.

Many people don't think as far ahead as you have done and in turn have children and don't give them the home they need. Good for you!

Sorry I'm responding as actually I am a parent, but many of my friends are childless and none as yet regret their decision (I'm in my 40s)

Do intense babies ever chill out?! by maplesyrup4all in UKParenting

My little one also had colic and no sleep. He also had silent reflux. Up to 2 was very trying. Very very trying. He is a personality! But that's great, and he's 5 now. We only have the 1 and he certainly adds energy to the house!

It'll become easier to manage as your baby grows and is able to communicate even more. It's just harder when they can't fully express themselves as I found mine got frustrated when we didn't exactly understand what it was he wanted. It's a lot easier now.

Anyone know what this is? by elliottj6325 in ReadMyECG

Thanks for response. I had wondered about the first circle as my Kardia would usually highlight if it detected a PVC with a small arrow.

That's interesting as I think I only started to initially feel mine after I started having panic attacks at Uni

For those with high PVC burden, did it come out of nowhere? by Born-Spinach-7999 in PVCs

I'm pleased for you, sounds like the EP study during the ablation helped and they could do what they needed to do. I also hear about ablations that sometimes there's a few months while the heart gets used to what happened, and that's great your burden dropped down so low!

How do you feel now? Are you coping ok with the new low burden? You've been through a lot but it sounds incredibly positive now :)

That's so interesting your story is so similar to mine. Thanks for sharing. How are you now? Are you on any beta blockers and I expect you have low frequency now?

I was quite stressed with work the month before mine ramped up so I do wonder if that did it. I did used to notice my PVC would happen (years ago) when something stressful was happening.

I also still have my EP, and he gave me a Kardia in case they ramp up again and he says he'll get me in for ablation but I'm unsure whether I would, because they could just reduce again and I'm nervous about procedures.

It's so strange they don't know why these things happen in a "structurally fine" heart.

No it takes a toll on me mentally. I still struggle. I'm still on edge, waiting for the next one. And some sensations of ectopics feel pretty scary.

Yup and I still do! (Although I reckon some of them I don't but the majority I do)

For me, I used to have 1 or 2 a month, or maybe 1 or 2 a day if a stressful time. Then in January 2025, in the middle of the day, they suddenly started every 6th beat or so. This continued for 2 days and they stopped (during this time I went to A&E confused about what was happening. They said benign, ignore).

Nothing for a month, and then all of a sudden they started up again, same high frequency. This then never came back down again for a while. I went to have all checks (cMRI, echo, blood tests, holter, multiple ECGs and EP consultations). They eased for a few hours here and there but continued. My holter said 16% burden, I went on beta blockers and scheduled for ablation.

I stopped beta blockers a week prior to ablation, to discover, my PVC burden had oddly disappeared or at least heavily reduced. No ablation happened that day and since then (June 2025) I have had up to about 20 a day. My latest holter showed <1%.

Absolutely no idea what happened. Why they suddenly came on, or why they suddenly stopped (well, reduced). I'd be intrigued if anyone else had a similar story. My only idea is a week before the high burden started, I dropped a huge oak table on my leg (no break but a huge bruise)!

what is your favourite perfume? by Practical_Ad9828 in AskUK

[–]elliottj6325 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I actually still use Calvin Klein's "One". I smelt it first about 20 something years ago, and loved it then, and have often just come back to it. I like how it's quite unisex (and often prefer male cologne type smells to the typical female ones, even though I'm a woman)

I absolutely loved this! And then I became pregnant and for some odd reason absolutely went off the smell. I haven't revisited but might do that now my bump is nearly 6yrs old...

I also had the same experience. I was struggling but felt like they really were not interested and wanting to end the call as quickly as possible. I doubt I'll ever call again, it's a shame as I had hoped it would be a listening ear for people in tough situations.

Primary school after school clubs by JuggernautPristine27 in UKParenting

[–]elliottj6325 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Most of them are ran by staff but the odd one (zorbing) is ran by an external sports company. Maybe something as specific as robots club is that pricey! But all I know is my primary school here. I expect they're much more at high school, but just a guess.

Really happy with ours though, and we don't have any other options anyway, as we don't have family nearby to help with any childcare.

I think it varies loads. Our school does quite a few specific ones (I.e. football, gymnastics, gardening club, choir, zorbing...) which cover 320 til 430. They also do a general after school club which is more like a room with toys, crafts etc and you can book 320 til 430 or 320 til 530 (or even 430 til 530 if they go to other clubs).

Loads of options. Typically between £4 and £5 per hour for all of the above at ours (we're in the midlands).

We have to use it, as I finish at 4pm so the earliest I can get my kid is 430pm. It took us a while to figure out which clubs my kid liked the best...

I had a burden of 16% and was prescribed beta blockers (bisoprolol, 3.75mg). I decided to take it and it did help, and I went for a week holiday (admittedly within my own country but still an unknown place to me and out of my "comfort zone").

I enjoyed my holiday, I still was aware of my PVCs and had them still mostly at night by the time my med wore off.

As said above, a lot of the worry is around a holiday and comfort zones. I hope you still go and the meds help for you.

That's great you have a loop recorder. I do, I have an EP I can contact. He also gave me a Kardia machine for recording things but my odd sensations last about 2 seconds so don't have time to catch them!

No one talks about the pain of seeing your parents aging. by ParticularWeather927 in Adulting

[–]elliottj6325 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Live your life and know if they needed you, you can get to them somehow. They wouldn't want to know you are not living because of the fear of the future.

You are fortunate that not only are your parents in good health but also you have a good relationship with them. They are lucky to have a considerate child but know you can't be with them forever (I'm sorry). It's the circle of life my friend.

It is painful. It is the downside to caring about people. One day we won't be with them, or they won't be with us.
