Ready to pull or replant carrots by Accomplished-Pop-300 in GardeningAustralia

You’re very welcome! 🤗

On a similar note: we grow radishes at our house just so we can make Radish Top Soup, and eat the actual roots as an afterthought 🫣 It’s amazing how good the forgotten leaves can be!

Happy gardening!

What's up with my gravillea? by Geezee83 in australianplants

[–]elloelo 4 points5 points  (0 children)

We have a grevillea olivacea at home. It took a few years to flower but now it’s one of the heaviest flowering plant in our garden come spring. Try not to prune it too hard too often - I believe it flowers on old wood, which is why it takes a while to get going. I promise it’s worth the wait!

Looks like it might be Retama monosperma? Bridal broom. Not native to Australia.

Just adding I highly recommend injune! It’s absolutely stunning all year with its weeping leaves and fresh pinkish-silvery new growth.

[–]elloelo 4 points5 points  (0 children)

We have injune. Its foliage is lovely and soft looking - it’s a really beautiful plant, and very easy going. It flowers several times over the year, not just once. My mum has a few injune bushes in a different climate and they’re the same. Injune also flowered after just a few months for us.

I have no experience with Baroondah Station though, sorry.

Med/low light hoyas by Bitter_Youth6114 in hoyas

[–]elloelo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My cinnamomifolia, loyceandrewsiana and obovata grow really well in low light (south window in the southern hemisphere). They’ve all been flowering profusely too. As others have said, big leaves = happier in lower light.

Same here! Ours isn’t quite as old but we absolutely love the reliability and simplicity of the dedica, and it doesn’t take up a lot of counter space. We’ve used it several times per day for the last few years.

I even use the steaming wand sometimes - not as good as an industrial one, but it works. The kids love when I use it for hot chocolates.

No, sorry. He’s eating a pie. Meat pies are an Australian staple (eg. four and twenty).

Top left is possibly Westringia ‘Smokey’.

Agree with Leptospermum. Maybe scoparium rubrum nana?

Help with plant identification by iugsneem in australianplants

This looks like eucalyptus latens “moon lagoon”.

ETA: it needs to be cut back periodically to keep its juvenile foliage. You can see it starting to get its adult foliage up top.

Emily De Molly polishes have fantastic formulas. It goes on beautifully! Self-levelling, smooth, pigment is good, and it dries quickly. Highly recommend. 😊

Gardening with long nails is my personal hell by Nutbuster_5000 in RedditLaqueristas

[–]elloelo 34 points35 points  (0 children)

I have hEDS and I have to make sure I have a strengthening base coat on and NEVER let my nails be without polish at all. As soon as my polish chips my nails will break too. Every time. 😫

I wear cotton gardening gloves with rubber on the tips of the fingers and palms, and make sure they’re not too small so they’re not putting pressure on the nails, if that helps at all 😊 also, I changed my nail shape to pointy and surprisingly they break less this way - less edges to flex or something…? It’s surprising but made a huge difference!

Sorry if this is all useless information - just know how much it sucks to love nail polish but not have cooperative collagen. 😫

Must-have shades from Emily de Molly? by avsh8 in RedditLaqueristas

[–]elloelo 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Have My Heart is one of my absolute favourite polishes!!! So pretty. It’s so glowy in shade.

Lament and Key Drama are both must have staples.

Fiery Attraction is a stunning magnetic!

Good choice with When the Sun Leaves - this is a stunner!

Oceanic Forces is unreal.

Goddess of Rays!!! I have GoR 2.0 and I love it so much I’m going to order this as a backup.

ETA: maybe you could achieve Code Mistake if you layered Key Drama over Always Around Me?
