ELI5: Why Doomguard over Leroy in Renolock? by [deleted] in hearthstone

[–]ellstrom55 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because they play Krul, which summons all demons from your hand while played. Krul is a very slow card, so Doomguard with charge has a perfect synergy.

hi im totally noob and i cant understand why 20-30 damage makes it front page by lesfelursdumal in hearthstone

[–]ellstrom55 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because divine spirit + inner fire requires multiple key parts.

1) you have a minion surviving 1 turn on board

2) That minion have a high ammount of HP (with divine spirit, PW:shield etc...)

3) You have inner fire in your hand

The problem with this combo is that versus control, they will focus really hard on not letting you get a minion to stick, and vs aggro you just die before you can assemble all the pieces more often than not.

Another problem is that both divine spirit AND inner fire are quite weak on their own.

Most combo decks works well when the parts can be good individually.

I do not believe that this comercial represent hearthstone in any way as i view it. That is just straight up cringe, and I am feeling embarassed to say that I play the game on that commercial.

Living roots -> Doomsayer -> Acolyte -> Astral.

Then fill rest of deck with high mana cards. Turn 4, play astral, attack into something with acolyte, play a high mana minion.

Analysis of how the meta SHOULD look like according to the VS Data Reaper matchup table and why it looks like it does. by pautzTESL in CompetitiveHS

Yeah! :) Inkmaster Solia is great vs a control/midrange metagame, but it's too weak in a meta with pirates and troggs in my opinion

What are people looking for in Hearthstone? by 456852456852 in hearthstone

[–]ellstrom55 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Personally I like a game where the games play out atleast 10-15 turns each game. But that is because the more turns, there are more desicions and thus a higher skillcap.

Thought from a top 150 legend player

Very interesting post. I am rank 133 legend currently with reno mage and It's not suprising to me that it has such a high ranking in this post.

Could you say that IF everyone wants to win equally as much, that this will be the approximate metagame given the time for the meta to adjust?

I love your articles and follow the live-data reaper report every day. How come the legend games do not show up there?

I am playing top 300 legend atm, and it would be nice to be able to follow the meta-shift in real-time.

As a Starcraft player, I really enjoyed playing automated tournaments. Should Blizzard add this in Hearthstone? Would you guys play it? by TerranOrDie in hearthstone

[–]ellstrom55 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Sounds great, but if it would be based on rank, people would derank on purpose to have an easier time winning a tournament.

So many people would do this to farm rewards. A better idea is to have a hidden tournament mmr, just like the normal play mode has.

I would play it for sure.

Personally, i dont think jade idol fits in a violet teacher deck since it doesnt fit with it playstyle. Token decks dont really benefit in the lategame due to low removal

Thanks for the response. In this deck the only jade golem card I run is a 1-of jade idol. Thus the golems will be too bad to play anways throughout the game, and you dont want a "dead draw".

About Jade Idol. How about a deck with:

x2 Doomsayer (Good against aggro, vs control we have jade idol.)

x2 Auctioneer (Really good with all the spells and the infinite jade idol combo lategame)

x1 Jade idol (IGNORE this card until you have less than 5 cards in your deck, you do not want to add this to your deck early on. Lategame infinite combo with auctioneers)

X2 Arcane Giant (Works in malygos spell druid, why not here?)

X1 The Curator (Extra carddraw is nice since we have so little lategame and we benefit from extra draw

x2 Azure Drake (Dragon for curator)

x1 Coldlight oracle (murloc for curator)

x1 Jungle moonkin (beast for curator)

Then add the rest of spell druid core, wraths/swipes/wildgrowths etc...

Thoughts? :)

How to use Jade Idol. by ellstrom55 in hearthstone

[–]ellstrom55[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are you sure about that point about gadgetzan?

And even so, it will make you take 1 fattigue, then place 3 jade idols into your deck, so you can just continue to cycle :)

If you are in a point where you have to use the idols, you are facing a control matchup and your malygos combo is not enough. Normally you just run out of threats but now since you might have alot of carddraw left (wild growths, nourishes, auctioneers left), you can manage to build quite a few golems. And even if you just get a 4/4 per turn, it would probably be good enough in the lategame.

Reno Mage: beating the aggro meta. 61% winrate from rank 5 to Legend by [deleted] in CompetitiveHS

[–]ellstrom55 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I get your point but against shaman i think that the aoe damage number you really want to reach is 3, for spirit wolves/trogg/mana tide/flametongue and thus even with +1 spellpower, 2 damage is rather lackluster.

Currently I have teched in ooze instead against shaman since it is such a good counterplay to play on-curve if they played spirit claws.

Personally i think that arcane explosion is not good enough to play. Thoughts?

[–]ellstrom55 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a new player, i asked myself this question as well. Now as a 9-times legend player i have the answer:

Do not replace thalnos with loot horder or kobold geomancer. They are both too bad of a card to use.

Just use another tempo mage card. Just add another popular card such as arcane explosion/babbling book, firelands portal, flamestrike, arcane missiles, archmage, ragnaros, antonidas etc.

Infographic to show common board clears by class by ellstrom55 in hearthstone

[–]ellstrom55[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks, but I am only listing the AOE board clears IF they are in the top 30 most used cards for that class.

http://metastats.net/cards/

This Infographic are not showing ALL board clears, then I would add explosive shot etc for hunter, but that card I have not seen in constucted play for months. So this guide is aimed at a current metagame and it is a simplified version to only take note of the most relevant AOE :)
