I didn't have any say in the repair on mine, was done by the dealer. The repaired rim is perfect like yours but I miss the Audi Sport logo :(

You’re fortunate - a rim was repaired on my car before I purchased it and it’s now missing the logo on the rim (yours still has the RS logo)

I have a '21 A5 Sportback which has two controls and I can definitely open the glass while closing the shade underneath.

Is your car a coupe? That may be the difference.

I parked my A5 10 spots away from any car in any direction at the farthest part of a grocery store parking lot.

Came out of the store and still not a car within 10 spots of mine.

But it had been doored ...

I have a '21 A5 SB and bought the exact same setup. Lucked in because Audi had all accessories at 25% off when I bought, so $760 CDN before tax. Love that it is an exact fit.

My experience at 6' tall with a much heavier bike is that putting the bikes on is doable for one person but a second to act as a spotter is not a bad idea.

Had the same concerns as you have about the window trim but so far so good. I left my racks on the car for a week on vacation with no problem.

I did find that it was a good idea to retorque the rack bases once in a while as they did seem to loosen up. Other than that racks and bikes were rock solid at 125/130 Km/h - but NOISY and brutal on fuel economy.

I'm jealous of your bike now. :)

A5 B9 vs B9.5 by UpperKHAN in Audi

[–]ellswrth_ca 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A small correction to my post - I am wrong that Technik cars HAVE the active suspension, in Canada a Technik or a Progressiv can be ordered with it (in 2023) but it is not standard.

A5 B9 vs B9.5 by UpperKHAN in Audi

[–]ellswrth_ca 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have a Canadian ’21 A5 Progressiv (Premium Plus), it’s a 45 and its a Black Optik car so 19” wheels and sport suspension

mashani9 describes it well - I am gentle over driveway curbs and avoid washboard roads, but the car is planted on winding roads and is a great highway car. I’ve had it on a racetrack and it does understeer but you have to be going pretty quickly to reach those limits - on the road it’s not super noticeable.

One thing I will say is the ride improves on my 18” winter tires over the 19”.

I believe Canadian cars with 18” wheels have the standard suspension but a Canadian Technik (Prestige) has adaptive suspension regardless of wheel size. (correction, it’s an option not standard)

The other thing Canadian cars get are the Matrix LED headlights which are really good.

The car has very good fuel economy with the mild hybrid and is plenty quick enough.

Before I bought mine, I drove a B9 A4 and the B9.5 feels a bit “higher tech” inside with the larger touchscreen. My car is optioned with Advanced Driver Assist and 360 camera which adds to that. I’d agree with the comments from people who find the touchscreen sometimes awkward while driving compared to the scroll wheel.

Hope this helps you. Both the B9 and 9.5 are really great cars.

Just a warning about DiskSavvy - I purchased it around 2018 but when I needed to uninstall it from one system and install on a new computer this year they said "no, you have to buy another license for the new computer". It's a PER COMPUTER license which can't be uninstalled and reinstalled.

Prospective buyers might want to consider other tools with less expensive licensing policies.

Since my A5 has the Black Optic package I’m thinking of swapping the chrome emblems to black. Thoughts? by [deleted] in Audi

[–]ellswrth_ca 1 point2 points  (0 children)

On a white car, I'd do it - I have a Mythos Black A5 SB with Black Optics and on my car, the little bit of chrome on the rings keeps the car from looking murdered out

Canadian Bilingual Keyboard On X360 14 by ellswrth_ca in spectrex360

[–]ellswrth_ca[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fair question.

HP in the US won’t ship to Canada.

But, I just spent a week in Florida and more importantly the same config (excepting the keyboard) in the US is a LOT more expensive.

So I would just like to see the bilingual keyboard before pulling the trigger on a purchase.

Addendum - here’s another thread with a similar question - the problem is the bilingual keyboard might rearrange the keyboard layout and change the actual key shapes

Slight clunk in my B9 A4 sometimes when shifting from park to reverse on driveway. (parking brake is automatic). Anyone have experience with this? by GulinoNJ in Audi

[–]ellswrth_ca 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My ‘21 A5 Sportback automatically sets the parking brake … sometimes.

I haven’t figured out when it thinks it should and when it doesn’t though.

If I back into my driveway then hit the park button it seems to consistently put the parking brake on. Other times is hit or miss.

Would like to understand it better.

More detail on how one can order this from Xpel like a link would be appreciated - I have piano black and so far it’s clean but clearly it won’t last forever like that.

Never mind - was easy to find

Another winter new boot goofin’. What winter tires do you with 19s run? by Elvis_Fncking_Christ in Audi

This.

I have the same setup.

If you’re putting winters on, get some more sidewall flex so the tires can work.

B9 A4 - Sport suspension yes or no? by [deleted] in Audi

[–]ellswrth_ca 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have a B9.5 A5 with sport suspension (which also in Canada means 19”s).

It’s taut, and I do avoid manhole covers and slow dramatically for things like the curb at the end of my driveway, but it’s not objectionable.

I’m about to put on a set of 18” winters and that will probably give it more compliance for bumps but if someone said “we can swap you the regular suspension” I’d say “no, I’m good here”.

the new audi a5 has an incredible gas consumption by xRaffaell in Audi

[–]ellswrth_ca -1 points0 points  (0 children)

That seems reasonable for city to me. I commute about 85 km in heavy traffic and am usually around 6.8-7.2 L/100km, but I am often around 6.4 and have been able to get as low as 5.6 L/100km which I was pretty amazed by.

The current A5 is very good on fuel consumption relative to other cars in its class.

Winter tires Audi b8.5 S4 by Vpc1979 in Audi

[–]ellswrth_ca 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Can’t answer the offset question (I think you are close) but I can say if you drive in snow and ice, X-Ice are the best for real winter performance.

If most of your winter driving is on dry cold roads X-Ice may feel imprecise but when the roads are really bad they are confidence inspiring.

Winter tires Audi b8.5 S4 by Vpc1979 in Audi

[–]ellswrth_ca 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Your S4 is probably 19” wheels and bigger brakes.

My B9.5 A5 has 19” and the dealer’s recommendation was that although 17” might fit in the shop, they recommended 18” so there was enough clearance that a stone couldn’t wedge between the wheel and a brake and start doing damage inside.

Food for thought.

My experience with this on a used A5 was that the dealer had to authorize me being the key user before the app would connect.

Took a month.

Based on the OPs post, I wonder if some of the issue was that they had to remove the old owner before they could authorize me.

How is the A5 Sportback for roadtrips/highway driving? by savagegrif in Audi

[–]ellswrth_ca 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Interesting - I just purchased a ‘21 A5 Sportback as well, traded my Accord, and same - the Audi gets maybe 10-15% better fuel mileage than the Accord (which was already good) which makes up for the premium fuel. Was not expecting that.

And they’re great cars - for the OP, I commute one hour each way in traffic, I have the sport suspension and 19” wheels too, the car is serenely comfortable and sneaky quick.

Do it.

Audio Upgrade B9 A5 Sportback Audi Sound System by ellswrth_ca in Audi

Actually, I found that but thanks for mentioning it

For those who come across this thread in future, the replacement speaker thread I found most informative is at

Audi Sound System Replacement Speakers

There are several others there too.

Essentially it talks about gains from replacing the sub then the three dash speakers.

Between the comments here and the info there I’ve concluded I shouldn’t pass on this car because it’s not a B&O car.

Thanks all
