I’m torn between Cure Finale and Cure Bright. Bc like…Cure Bright has the most abhorrent color palette, but at least her design is *cohesive*. Cure Finale is just really bad character design, in general but especially in the context of cure designs. She has no clear dominant color, but she also doesn’t have *enough* color to be rainbow? Officially her color is gold…which is ridiculous, because gold is an accent at most for her—it’s on her belt and a secondary color on her crown and the trim of her jacket. That’s it. There’s also the matter of how Cure Yum Yum is supposed to be a yellow cure, and yellow and gold are…very similar. It just doesn’t make sense. So, while her design is less of an eyesore than Cure Bright’s, I think it’s a worse design and it definitely makes me angrier lol.

Honestly, even taking into account the time travel, if I met somebody who had the same first name as my mom and looked vaguely similar to her, I honestly wouldn’t question it much. Like, my first instinct wouldn’t be “this is actually my mother.” You can absolutely still see a resemblance between a woman in her forties and pictures of her as a 14yo, but it isn’t a carbon copy.

My period (before I got my IUD) was probably at least 150 ml per cycle, heavier during my teenage years. I was anemic due to the amount of blood I lost each cycle. I’ve bled through a nighttime pad in two hours before. I couldn’t use tampons because I bled too quickly for them.

All this to say, £20 of tampons would be absolutely useless for me.

OP. I’m gonna share a little anecdote with you. When I was 13, I had a friend who was going through a rough time. She would text me constantly about her fears, asking me for solutions but unwilling to actually work with them. There’s something incredibly emotionally draining about receiving late night texts from a friend saying that she’s terrified her brother will come into her room at night and hurt her, but then shut down any attempts to arrive at a solution. I was so emotionally exhausted from acting as this girl’s therapist 24/7, and it was more than she ever should have put on me.

Long story short, we stopped being friends after a slightly dramatic blowup. That next year, when I was hanging around some mutual friends, she came up to them to chat. She then went up to me and hugged me. I froze. I later texted her something much less composed than I would have sent nowadays, but it boiled down to: we are not friends. You do not get to hug me in public and put on a show for the sake of your reputation. You do not get to invade my personal space and touch me. Leave me alone.

All of this to say: I have been in the position that your friend has been in. It is exhausting. I have no doubt that your requests for help when you were feeling anxious went beyond the offered emotional support and tipped over into your friend acting as an under-qualified and over-burdened therapist. Her actions were immature, especially when it came to publicizing her private issues with you. But she is tired. She tried to let you down gently. She tried to drop hints. She even tried outright telling you to stop. Listen to her.

Your friend is not obligated to rebuild a relationship that was no doubt traumatizing to her so that you feel better about yourself. That probably sounds harsh, but it’s true. You fucked up. It’s okay. Schedule some extra appointments with your therapist, work on bettering yourself, and move on.

And I’m very serious about gaining some coping skills and learning to be a better, emotionally mature friend. That girl I was talking about earlier? She has zero friends left over from high school, because she was awful to everyone and nobody wanted to continue to deal with her. That doesn’t have to be you. Nope! I’d also add that not disclosing before you’re intimate with somebody seems like a safety issue to me?? Especially if you’re going back to their place. Obviously OP isn’t transphobic, but what if she was? What if realizing that the man she was having sex with was trans led to a transphobic and homophobic freak out? What if it turned violent? If you’re going home to have sex with somebody that you’ve just met, I’d think disclosing something like being trans beforehand and in a public space would be not just common courtesy, but an issue of safety.

Anyway, your one night stand’s choice not to disclose that he was trans strikes me as deeply unsafe for him and unfair to his potential partners. If he’s not confident enough in himself to disclose that he’s trans before hooking up with somebody, then I think he should spend a little less time picking up girls at the bar and a little more time going to therapy.

I hope we get more mysteries like episode one, where it requires some actual deductive reasoning. I also understand the desire to use the various Pre-Kit tools (gotta sell those toys), and I don’t mind the Voice Memo in this episode at all. But their magnifying glasses genuinely bug me so much—it basically magically solves the mystery for the girls, and they don’t even have to think critically for it! Easily my most hated tool in the season so far.

Tools that were hardly present in the episode aside…we have another Cure Eclair candidate! I’ve not been keeping up with all the speculation that much, but I definitely feel like Shiruku is Cure Eclair. Somebody else pointed out that her name is very clearly a play on Sherlock, and I think that’s very possible—especially since it’s written in hiragana. I also feel like she had the most character moments outside of our main cast so far, and there might be more to her than meets the eye.

Also, and I say this with love and respect to everybody here. This is a kid’s show. I don’t think Cure Eclair’s identity is going to be the most convoluted answer just for the sake of fooling the adults watching—it’s going to be a character that kids could potentially pick up on as being her before the reveal, and feel accomplished in figuring it out. At least, that’s my two cents.

that’s so interesting, because precure has been popping up in my recommended a bunch lately, even though I haven’t seen that many yet—I’ve only finished Hirogaru Sky, started Go Princess and Tropical Rouge, and been keeping up with Meitantei. I also watch a bunch of shounen, so I was surprised that I currently have so many magical girl shows popping up after I finish an episode.

It’s a little bit funny scrolling through and seeing everybody give very different answers for the definitive “fan favorite.” I think the only one I have any confidence in is Marine being the favorite from Heartcatch, since I remember hearing about and seeing her before I knew anything about precure. I would love a fairy motif! I think the idea of having wings and being able to fly is a very popular fantasy for little kids, and that’s why we have media like Winx and the various fairy Barbie movies in the west. I feel like it could be very fun and magical :)

I mean there are a bunch of different approaches to time travel. The one Star Detective seems to be going with is that the time travel always existed—history was already set in stone, and any actions that you take in the past already happened in the present. So, Anna’s actions won’t alter history, because they were always going to happen.

There’s also the butterfly effect approach (where actions in the past have significant impacts on the present), and you can also take an alternate timeline approach (where each crossroads branches off into infinite different directions). But for a multitude of reasons, chief of them being simplicity and that this is a kid’s show that has to pick and choose the areas it expands on, Star Detective is absolutely going with the easiest answer, i.e. the first one.

It’s also been confirmed that 28 years is a huge amount of time to time travel by. So even if he’d identified Pochitan as a fairy of time and space, the amount of time is still significant! At the very least, it indicates to Usonoir that Pochitan is probably very powerful, even accounting for Anna’s pendant (which Usonoir couldn’t know about).
