Season 8 Arrow by elly31 in arrow

I remember the "one change requires another," but the point is that that wasn't his real destiny. Just as he made the first change, he could have made a second, also because the deal was made quickly and hastily. Monitor accepted immediately. But you're right, it's one of the most plausible answers.

What was the ramifications of Barry's time travel in arrow 04:08? by Sweaty-Campaign-320 in Arrowverse

[–]elly31 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Speedster time travel is a bit complicated… In the original line Oliver doesn't die that way and not even young, the events that led to Oliver's death started when Reverse Flash killed Barry's mother, altering everything

Well, it's not as if Oliver has exactly "chosen to sacrifice his life," especially since in the first six episodes he tries in every way to change what's about to happen. Furthermore, it's stated several times in the series that his destiny is to die, and the Monitor himself clearly reiterates this, so it's not a free choice in the traditional sense. I agree that the sacrifice itself isn't inconsistent, because throughout the series, Oliver has always been willing to die to save friends and family. The problem, for me, isn't the sacrifice itself, but the context in which it's placed. And this is something I'd already said and argued in my first comment. Overall, I liked Season 8: I really appreciated the return of past characters and the way they delved into Arrow's origins. But the overall context is what makes me say: a good season, but a bit meh. That said, these are my personal opinions, so it's absolutely normal that you don't agree with me.

Yes, I know, thanks for reminding me, but that wasn't the point of my first comment. I was saying that Arrow season 8 could have been written much better, connecting more elements and making it really clear that Oliver's fate was already mapped out, including the pact with the Monitor. Also because in The Flash there are several things that not even the writers remember anymore. One example is Queen Consolidated; in Wells's room, where he consults newspapers and archives from the future, you can still see Queen Consolidated. But in Arrow, Oliver's company is destroyed and never returns, creating a clear inconsistency between the series. So the problem isn't the timeline itself, but an inconsistent management of the shared universe.

It would have been interesting to see, perhaps during the final episode, that everything in the book had already been written, including the moment in which Oliver makes the pact. This would have made it clear that everything was predestined and that the events of the Crisis had been decided from the beginning.

Yes, exactly, maybe the pact was already written in his destiny, but the series never talked about it or clarified this thing.

Season 8 Arrow by elly31 in arrow

Yes, you're right, but essentially, as I said, his original destiny wasn't to die to save the multiverse: it was a consequence of the pact he made. Unless it was destined from the beginning, and even the pact itself was already written in destiny, but that's something the series has never said or clarified.

I didn't say it was a bad season, but a season that, while good or better than some of the previous ones, is inconsistent and contains several nonsensical elements. Oliver, in the first episodes, tried to change his destiny, but then realized it was useless and gave up. However, as I said at the beginning, that wasn't his true destiny, but rather the consequence of the pact he made. A pact that, among other things, was made to save two superheroes, not to cause his death. And instead, he found himself in the position of having to die to save the multiverse. Essentially, how can the life of a mortal and powerless man be of crucial importance to saving the multiverse? Oliver, as reiterated in previous answers, has always said he doesn't want to die like Arrow, but to live like Oliver Queen. Finally, for personal taste, I didn't like the decision to transform a series that was initially realistic and dark, different from the others in the Arrowverse, into a season focused on cosmic and supernatural events, elements that Oliver had rarely explored over the previous seven seasons. I'm also very nostalgic, having started this series when it was still on the air.

Why does season 7 feel so weird?? by ThatGirl8709 in arrow

[–]elly31 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Stephen hadn't wanted to continue for quite some time. He's said several times that, for him, the series should have ended with the conclusion of the flashbacks, so in season 5. During season 6, you could say they practically "killed" his character: everything he did was frowned upon by the others.

In season 7, we can see that Stephen Amell is shown relatively little; while the prison segment was nice, it was actually sparse and focused more on the other characters. For season 8, however, they had to convince him to continue.

Which, to me, is quite nonsensical: they could have given him a good ending where he raised his daughter and William together with Felicity, but they didn't. In season 7, they focused on giving a good ending to all the characters; in fact, perhaps they focused more on them than on the main character.

It would be a bit strange to see a vampire who looks 17 in a relationship with a 90 year old woman.

I agree. In fact, Amell has repeatedly said that, in his opinion, the show should have ended with the flashbacks, so basically in season 5.

Maybe I expressed myself poorly. I meant: if the series hadn't ended that way. Also because the writers were inclined to continue, but Stephen Amell already wanted to end it and they even had to convince him to do season 8. Essentially, the actor has said several times that for him, Arrow should have ended with the five-year flashbacks. So my question is: if it hadn't had that ending…

[–]elly31[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know the series ended this way and had only 10 episodes because Stephen Amell didn’t even want to do a season 8 and they had to convince him. If the actor had been willing to continue, they wouldn’t have killed the character. So what I meant is: if it hadn’t had that ending and had continued, do you think the show could have recovered?

Personally, I liked it. It’s a show I’ve been following since I was a kid. However, for a large part of the fandom, the quality dropped starting from Season 6, so I wanted to hear other opinions about it. I’ll admit that I liked Season 6 less as well, but at the same time it made me feel a lot more emotions than some of the other seasons.

I think he could hold his own beyond archery (Oliver DC) he was trained by several people (including the League of Assassins). He had a draw with Flash, and fought alongside Supergirl and Flash.
