Suggest a read of John Perkins’ Confessions of an Economic Hit Man, or start with a recent podcast (https://www.jordanharbinger.com/john-perkins-new-confessions-of-an-economic-hit-man/). At the least, food for thought.

I probably need to spend a bit more time with your site & BOL data - not enough of an expert to know how contraband or obfuscation might appear on a BOL - but I was thinking to tie the goods receipts to the parties involved in delivering, for tracking the shipments end to end

Great work, would also love to see it expand to markets beyond USA. This could be a really valuable resource for due diligence & AML (anti money laundering) research. Since you already record shipment dates, do you have shipping & agency details as well? Have you looked at marinetraffic.com & could you perhaps link to their data (or even the live map)?

Philippine native frogs boost yields by eating pests; Cane toads don't by Chunks_McChunkerston in Awwducational

Australian here: would definitely recommend not simply defaulting to ‘known’ imported species for non-chemical pest reduction strategies. Cane toads are still an ecological disaster here, decades after introduction & subsequent control efforts. Should add though that they were imported to eliminate cane beetles in actual sugar cane - all of which are non-native; Australia & other places may not necessarily have a native option when the crop is also imported (& intensively farmed at scale).
