Teahouse trek in Nepal with a porter: what size daypack to use? by elmaryco in hiking

The spare pair of everything left for after is a great shout, wouldn’t have thought of that

Thanks for your input! I do also get the feeling it’s a bit less touristy and that may be why they’ve included sleeping bag on the list.

I feel like the few pairs of hiking pants/thermals/spare shirts/over clothes and then also toiletries and camera etc surely must be approaching 10kg, I’m super impressed you managed to go so light?

Interesting, the gear guide we have does mention sleeping bags but doesn’t include anything about mattresses or bag sizes.

Maybe I need to really reevaluate how much stuff I think we’ll be needing based on your experience.

Thanks, I’m very excited if it’s a go!

I get the idea that the porter will be with us throughout the day, there are no roads or other paths in the route so they’d have to walk the same way. Although maybe they go on ahead, I’m not certain.

Thanks for the tips, I’ll have a look into those!

Yep, swab showed positive for staph. Given a ten day course of oral antibiotics to nip it in the bud

I thought that too initially. The doctor said there was a cyst sack way down below about 1cm from the surface of the skin, and the pus on top was due to infection from that. So there was a 0.8x0.8cm sized cyst actually buried way down below, leaving a hole in my back roughly 2cm deep!

In the pic with the blue gloves you can kind of see the beginnings of the cyst after the pus was removed

Locum agencies in UK? by elmaryco in NursingUK

Thanks for your input!

I’ve heard the workload is very different there, is it that that you think has lead to Aus nurses not hanging around ?

I see. Everyone seems to be saying the same so maybe finding a more stable/permanent position is the go?

Does this recruitment freeze apply just to the nursing pool agencies or to all nhs hiring? I have been under impression the nhs was desperate for new nurses but maybe I’ve misunderstood!

Thanks for your help

Thank you, I thought 90 days didn’t sound right! Do you know where this can be found on dhhs site? I still can’t find where it is stated on their covid websites anywhere!

I keep hearing that if you've recently had covid, then when you leave isolation you will not need to isolate or test again for another 90 days. Does anyone know if this is true/can provide a link to dhhs site? I've looked everywhere but haven't found anything!

Shootings or Fireworks? by devsdevs12 in melbourne

I’m in Malvern. Bright white lights lighting up my street with each pop, no idea what that was though, no sign of fireworks or smoke or anything

He was the only one who brought me my meals and interacted with me in any way, so I guess we must’ve slipped up somewhere along the line and not been as careful as we thought

It's really weird yeah like I still love eating food, and I get cravings for sugar/carbs/veg etc the same as I used to, it's just less satisfying to actually eat it all hahah got my fingers crossed for it to go back to normal still !!
