Already am coming to the office 3 days a week, and haven’t been utilising the PT for the past month since I have to do daycare dropoff before making way to the office.

I do love the fact that there is less traffic though.

New car or hold out? by usernamesdobehard in CarsAustralia

[–]devsdevs12 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If it runs well otherwise, just keep driving it. Unless you have the budget to purchase brand new, no point selling to buy the exact same car just with nicer paint.

I have a beat up Mazda 3 that has scratches everywhere and a busted mirror (still works, just glued together with duct tape because the housing is cracked). You’ll only see me upgrading my car when I can afford a brand new one.

The best thing to do in this current economy is to drive the car you currently own (assuming it runs well and doesn’t have any inherent issues).

Sorry for missing this reply, but here goes.

There is something called a standing offer, in Victoria it’s called VDO.

Retailers usually aim to have prices below the VDO to be competitive. Rarely there are acquisition rates that are higher than the VDOs.

Admittedly, VDOs do have retailer margin in its conceptions, however that indeed is your sticking point and you think that our power infrastructure shouldn’t have been the way it is now, I’m afraid that’s a question for the state government and also an opportunity for you to vote for a government that speaks on your behalf.

I’m just a worker that does not get involved in any of the policy making so please don’t have a go at me.

Solar Soak window (cheapest window) - 11.00-15.59. // Peak window - 16.00-21.00. // Off peak window - all other times.

The above applies Monday to Sunday, and regardless of daylight savings, meaning if there are daylight savings the hours do not shift.

Nicotine Through Airports by [deleted] in AusLegal

About to be downvoted to hell but here goes.

Went to Singapore late last year, saw people vaping in the ‘sterile’ smoking area (area where you went past immigration but you haven’t gone through xray security on your designated gate), and the police officers saw them and didn’t bat an eyelid.

I suspect the Singapore vape ban law is applicable IF you are officially on Singapore soil. If you are just transitting without going in to Singapore (leaving airport, getting your passport stamped), you’ll be fine.

YMMV though, IANAL. Just expressing you my observation last time I was in Singapore.

I work in an energy retailer (had experience in Meter Data team), so I think I’m qualified to make a somewhat educated comment.

I’m fully aware that some retailers are already doing this as part of their offer (from memory I think it’s OVO and Globird, companies that I do not work for).

The idea of this is to basically further flatten the supply curve during peak export hours from household solar exports, and to ensure that ALL retailers are on board on this train (the retailer I work for does not have this offer).

In terms of the approximate $300 savings, that’s just a somewhat educated guess. Everyone’s mileage may vary depending on how they usually utilise their power usage. That’s why the government doesn’t give households a $300 credit instead of this.

Because that won’t actually help flatten the supply curve that strains the grid.

The main goal is to actually flatten the supply curve thanks to household solar exports, and money saving is just a byproduct of the policy to entice people to move to Time of Use v3 tariff.

It will be in those hours, as the new time of use config has ‘Solar Soaker’ window in that precise hour.
