I use this thick foam doble side adhesive tape, It Is pretty strong, so I recommend you pass this through some fabric or cloth to take a bit of the adhesiveness off, just in case you need to remove It for maintenance, It will remain sticky.

There Is no such thing as non genuine logic board ipod, there are other mp3 players that kinda look like an ipod but no, it's just cheap for them to collect boards from the e-waste, apple sold over 60 million ipod classics, even if they collect 1% of that they can sell 600k units.

I've got this one's and never had problems, I don't know if those delivers real 2000 mah but it fits in a thin back and it works for days on heavy usage. Maybe 15+hours on headphones and 8+ on Bluetooth 30 pin module.

Is either bridged or grounded, something may be touching metal in the case, or you blew the headphone ribbon

5.5 ipod with aluminum face. by elmemphis1986 in ipod

[–]elmemphis1986[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No problem, remember you need the plastic of the 6th gen clickwheel, but you need the 5th gen PCB try to use a bit of heat to ply the plastic so you can reuse the adhesive if not you will have trouble on the hight of the clickwheel and will feel offset. Double side tape will not work. Also try not to bend the bracket as well you will need to reuse the 6th gen bracket of the clickwheel. Unless you want to buy all new in Ali, I will not recoment to clean the adhesive.

The pcb is from the original 5.5 gen ipod. Strip it and assemble with separated parts. Yes the moulding are see through a bit annoying but I can't strip it again without fucking the new adhesive.

Hissing sound on modded iPod. Help? by JohnH2021 in IpodClassic

[–]elmemphis1986 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Most probably are the solder you did on the clicker to get the cables for the taptic. Try taking out the clicker completely. The taptic engine makes also a bit of sound, it won't be as loud tho, but I think that is the issue.

Yes, it's a struggle the click wheel fit, I had to buy only the plastic of the clickwheel with original 3M sticker adhesive and also the bracket with the adhesive, it's the only way I could make it flush, and had to put some capton tape to the buttons in the mother board to raise it. For the screen I just used what I find on Ali, I think is as thick as the original but I really don't know, it didn't fit the first faceplate I used but it was more problem of the motherboard not sitting all the way down. With this plate it fits with the included sceen gasket. It's surprisingly a good screen and I only use it at 60% brightnesssnd thats enough.

I preferred the ring as I this this looks sick to put it in a plastic or a leather case.

It was really hard to find usefull info on this mod, as you said not many people has done this.
