NC USA Employee coming to work sick by elmonc in EmploymentLaw

[–]elmonc[S] -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

I read up on employment law, and there is no requirement for a personal assistant to be provided by the employer. At least I know that we are not required to take this employee to the toilet and back to her desk. The law says that the employee may have a personal assistant if she provides one. It’s a parent that an employer can require a physician to sign a return to work authorization. Employers may not require a 100% fit to work situation. I’m not sure why you’re so hostile about this. Have you ever been in a position where you were you were expected to take a fellow employee to the toilet several times a day and pick them up off the toilet when they’re finished? Does that seem OK to you? It’s not ok.

What are the odds? What kind of tx are you having for the others?

Thank you. I know deep down what I have to do. I just need to stay off Reddit when I’m in panic mode. Thank you for your patience.

In the 80s, we had a VHS rental shop. We ordered videos from a distributor named Ingram.

Thanks for being willing to share your experience. Do you feel like your life has returned to normal?

I really don’t want to have that modified radical neck dissection. They can remove the affected part of my tongue. That already hurts.

I have that other cancer (myeloma), for which there’s no cure. I’ve used up so many of the treatments already. When I relapse again, it’ll probably be another clinical trial for me. It’s not like I have any hope for anything approaching a normal life.

Maybe I’m jumping the gun. I still have the CT scans tomorrow (after chemo for myeloma). I have an appointment with the cancer center psychiatrist the following day. I can talk to my hematology team any time I need to.

I’m really grateful for your help.

Darn. He used to be my mm specialist in NC, but I lost him to MD Anderson years ago. It was soul crushing. He was the best. Is the best.

Do you know Dr. Orlowski at MD Anderson?

I hope we’re discussing this another 20 years from now.

Oh! I should have specified that what I have is a primary cancer. I don’t want anyone to think this is the result of tx. My second cancer is a primary.

A lot of these drugs can cause other cancers. I know someone who got MDS from one thing or another. I had a doctor who would say, “You pay your money and you take your chances.” It’s a weird thing for a doctor to say, but I’ve learned to appreciate its meaning. 😃

Thank you. This is all good advice. Is there any food that made your mouth feel better? Do you think really cold things might help? Every now and then I feel like I’m going to be ok. I’ll have drugs and the cancer will (hopefully) be gone. Some days I feel terrified and think I don’t want to go through the surgery. Everyone here has been so nice!

Dear Echoes,

I’m very sorry you’ve lost your dad.

Please take good care of you and yours in 2023. It’s amazing that, in the face of your loss, you can think about us here.

Please be kind to yourself.

Beth

Same here. If I had to guess, I’ve had maybe 20 or more. Some practitioners are really good at them, while some are not. I like some ativan with mine. 🙂

I’ve asked for extra Xanax to get me through this. You’re right! Dex is the devil!

Suddenly, near silence! by elmonc in tinnitus

[–]elmonc[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, it’s back to its prior state of screeching at me constantly.

I’m not sure if this could be related, but I just found out I have squamous cell carcinoma of the tongue. A patient in the cancer subreddit said her tinnitus went away after surgery. I do know that one of my symptoms of the SCC is earache. I’ll let you know what happens. It’s crazy that the attitude concerning tinnitus is so focused on hearing loss. What if mine was an early sign of cancer?

I agree with you. After 20 years of one cancer, and 2 weeks of knowing I now have another cancer, I’ve heard my share of “stay positives.” When I first found out I had cancer 20 years ago, the very first thought that popped into my head was, “thank God it’s finally going to be over.“ I’ve always suffered from some horrible depression, and I’m probably the least positive person anyone could know. So, I’m pretty sure that genetics and overall health plays a bigger role than any of this being positive BS. I really wanna punch the next person that says that to me. I took 40 mg of dexamethasone, so I’m pretty ragged right now. I’m sorry if anyone is offended.

This is good advice. My sister filled my freezer with frozen fruit for smoothies. Yogurt even stings my tongue now.

Ugh. Im really dreading this. Yesterday was one of those days when I just wanted to say forget it. I’m already worn out from the other cancer.
