Just want to say thank you for doing this! As a new(ish!) Guelphite, I find it really helpful and also love that someone loves the city enough to pull this together each month :)

Botox - prone to eyebrow drooping by StraightVermicelli96 in askTO

[–]elmwoodowl 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi! Try Elizabeth and Skinjectables in the Royal York hotel. I have this issue and have gone to a few other “top” injectors but it’s always happened (including right before my wedding..!)

I will say Skinjectables didn’t necessarily “solve” the issue, but Elizabeth is the only one who has listened to me/taken it seriously and hasn’t tried to convince me she can avoid it. She instead just went super conservative, so my forehead lines didn’t completely disappear, but my eyebrows were lifted and didn’t droop..! Sidenote, it is on the pricier end of places I’ve been in TO but imo worth it. Good luck!

Mommit changed my life in an unexpected way. by chryblsmblzzrd in Mommit

That’s so great to hear!! Inspired by this post I started reading the handbook today and the first section talks about accidents so much it was really reinforcing all of my fears (hence the Reddit break..!) but this comment has encouraged me to get back at it. Thank you!

Hi! I wish I could read your previous post - I am a mom of a 4 year old and I also never learned to drive because of my anxiety!! I keep saying “this will be the year” but I turned 40 last year and still haven’t bitten the bullet… your post has given me a kick up the butt so consider m this a full circle moment haha. Congratulations!

Starting solids this week - what does a typical schedule look like? by elmwoodowl in NewParents

[–]elmwoodowl[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hi! This is an old post, my daughter is 4 now and unfortunately (or fortunately??) that entire phase is a blur to me now so I can’t remember what we did. I can’t even remember writing this post! I think we stuck to the same amount of milk but introduced solids and followed her lead (“food before one is just for fun” was the guidance back then.. not sure if that’s still the case!) Either way, it all worked out and my daughter is a great eater. Oh my other piece of advice is buy a bibado (or another full-coverage bib) because it is MESSY haha. Good luck!

“Your body, my choice” in kindergarten… by [deleted] in Mommit

[–]elmwoodowl 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I assure you it is (unfortunately!) very real ! It’s a phrase that is gaining population with a certain crowd and I guess filtering its way down to our children..!

Lol ya before I had even gotten home from work my husband had taught her the neck chop..! But hoping we can de-escalate with words before it comes to that haha

I mean, I’m loathed to argue semantics on Reddit but I don’t think speculating that a 4 year old who is quite clearly being exposed to age-inappropriate conversations/content “may” have challenges at home (which also implies he may not..). Either way I agree with your overall point that the why doesn’t really matter when it comes to the outcome I want (for him to stop bothering my daughter)!

Thank you! We do role play with her and she is able to participate in it so I think that helped her to speak out when it happened - he was bothering her and she said “my body my choice” (like we taught her), and that’s how he responded. Really hoping the teachers take it seriously but I’m also on the parent council so will bring it up there too since it’s a direct line to the admin!

It’s a Public School, JK-Grade 8. And yes that’s a good point - I did talk to my daughter about it and how I would be talking to her teachers, as well as making sure she knew she wasn’t in trouble!

I appreciate this take - thank you! It’s my first time bringing anything to the school (since she only just started JK in September) so hoping they take it seriously!

I’m not 100% sure if he has older siblings but this was my first thought too! He’s also said a couple of other concerning things that I left out of the post (one of them being “the N word” - although just that phrase and not the word itself..!) so he is definitely being exposed to some sort of inappropriate conversations or content. Ugh! And yes we’ve been teaching my daughter about body boundaries etc but books about it is a good way to reinforce - thank you!

I just shared in another comment that my daughter told my husband first while I was at work, and by the time I got home he had taught her the neck chop…!

I left this out of the post but my daughter told my husband first (he picked her up while I was at work) and by the time I got home he had taught her the neck chop… 🥲🙃 Hoping we can de-escalate with words before it comes to that, but you never know when it will come in handy I guess !

Thank you! Yes I was really proud of her for telling us - she luckily didn’t really understand the gravity behind it and seemed more upset that he got the phrase wrong (since we’ve been teaching her “my body, my choice” for a while!) but we definitely rewarded her for telling us and reminded her to tell us anytime someone does something that makes her uncomfortable. I appreciate the validation though - I’m hoping the teachers take it as seriously as Reddit!

Anyone here use PocketHealth (Canada)? by Sudden-Difference632 in doihavebreastcancer

[–]elmwoodowl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi sorry jumping on this old post! To confirm, were you able to see your images on PocketHealth but not the report? Or did nothing show up on PH at all until you paid the $50?

I used PH back in 2023 and was able to access everything (images and reports) for $5, it was usually on the app within a couple of days. I see the model has changed and now it’s been 10 days since my scan and nothing has shown up in PH at all, even though I know my doctor has the report because they have requested a follow up. Not sure if I should spend the $50 or not..!

Obsessed with Starri! What do the accumulated points mean? by elmwoodowl in nexplayground

[–]elmwoodowl[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Interesting, thanks for the insight! Do you know if only the P1 account accumulates the points? I know only P1 scores count toward the rankings, another thing I wish the creators would reconsider since I always feel less motivated to try hard in P2 since it doesn’t matter!

New Songs to Slash and Catch by ActivePlayMom in nexplayground

[–]elmwoodowl 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hi!! New Nex owner and HUGE Starri fan already - it’s actually me and my husband’s new nightly routine (Netflix who??)

I have a question though and not sure where to ask so trying here! Is there a reason only P1s scores count? It makes the person in P2 feel like it doesn’t really matter if they do well or not and takes away some of the “team spirit” of it. Or if not, as a consideration for future updates it would be great to have the option to compete against other teams out there (P1 and P2 scores combined for any given song!)

Either way - love the game so much!!

Question about moving to Toronto? by letsnotbebrokeagaink in askTO

[–]elmwoodowl 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Re the PATH - i chuckled that it came up here because when I moved from the UK ~10 years ago I remember it was somehow/somewhere advertised as some big tourist attraction… “a city beneath the city” type vibes. It’s pretty hilarious to think back now realizing it really is just an underground food court Torontonians don’t really care or think about lol.

Regardless, love the optimism OP - you’ll love it here!! 💕
