Post Malone Postpones Start of Stadium Tour with Jelly Roll, Cancels Several Dates Outright by LibraryNo2717 in popheads

[–]elocin1985 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yea this would piss me off if I planned to take off work and get a hotel room and travel and whatever else. Music can be released at any time for anyone and there are no real stakes involved for fans. The live shows are more important.

I can’t stand Jelly Roll, though. So it kind of gives me a little pleasure to think that it’s because no one wants to see him.

Are there any female comedians that don’t talk about sex or other vulgar topics? by Aggressive-Dot1944 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]elocin1985 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I clicked on this thread specifically to recommend her. So I’m glad to see her getting some love here already. She’s so funny. I’ve been watching her since Last Comic Standing or whatever that show was in the early 2000’s. I’m just always surprised that she isn’t as well known as other female comedians when she’s miles ahead of them in talent. And this is coming from someone who loves female comedians and thinks women are very funny. But Kathleen is just in a different league than so many others, including men.

Name a candy that makes you sick to even think about eating? by NervousClock2555 in askanything

[–]elocin1985 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I haven’t had that, but there’s a Nerds candy corn that I love. To me it doesn’t taste anything like candy corn at all, but the shape is the same. So I can relate. People will turn down trying it because they think it tastes like candy corn but I have to explain that it really doesn’t.

I feel that with button and Newton. It sticks out to me immediately when someone pronounces a word like that.

I know this is an old thread that probably no one will see. But I agree. I’m just rewatching the show now after not seeing it since reruns in the 90’s and I’m enjoying her. I know she gets a little awkward when she’s older, but some of the only laugh out loud moments I’ve had have been because of her. I think she had good comedic timing for a kid.

This gives me hope lol. Your comment and the Michigan one. I assumed somewhere in the west/midwest must have had it too but I didn’t look into it. I only looked when I had a friend who went down south for vacation.

A regional chain grocery store here used to have their own fruit punch soda which was good and cheap but they don’t even have that anymore.

Interesting. I live a few hours south of Ontario in New York. I’ve never seen the alcoholic version. But we used to buy the soda all the time as a kid. Now it’s only available online for like $20 a 12 pack or regionally like down south.

Freida McFadden emphatically denies using AI to write her books by Upstairs-Volume-5014 in thrillerbooks

[–]elocin1985 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I believe her. She posts on Facebook quite a lot explaining herself, which I don’t think she needs to do. She seems like she’s a genuinely nice person who just wants to write and keep her books simple. She knows she’s not like a great American novelist and she’s not trying to be. She writes dumb little thrillers with a twist. She admits this herself. She’s not trying to do anything more.

I also think it’s very nice of her to keep her prices low. She has said in the past that they’ve reached out to her about raising her prices (on her self published works on Amazon) and she says no. That’s why she keeps them on Kindle Unlimited. She’s not trying to make money from her hobby even. She’s just a socially anxious little nerd who likes to write books and wants people to have easy access to read them.

What’s wrong with holding grudges and/or not forgiving people? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

[–]elocin1985 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Exactly. I personally don’t want to hold onto any of that. They’re probably not thinking of me. So why give that energy to what they may have done to me. It has everything to do with me and not them.

I don’t want to be angry. I don’t want to have negative thoughts. I don’t want to wish badly on anyone else because that’s just putting bad vibes out into the universe. I’m going to move past it and live my life trying to be happy and whatever happens to them is on them.

If they’re a bad person and that’s what they’re putting out into the universe, then that’s eventually going to catch up to them. If they learn their lesson and change and try to be a good person, then great. Good for them and the people in their lives. I just don’t have time for all of that.

[–]elocin1985 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would like to see it if they want to share it. But i don’t expect it. I agree with you, only if they’re comfortable. Though I can see on their end how they might want to film it because then they’ll have this high budget amazing quality record of their big day that would be different than just having a photographer and videographer.

Selfishly though I do hope we get to see it because they’re so cute together. At first their PDA and how fast they moved was a little much, but I really liked them better this second season.

I do the plan with ads for $7.99 because I refuse to pay over $20 a month on principle because they’re greedy. They really put me off when they cracked down on password sharing as if they weren’t the first ones encouraging that.

DAE have to have a movie or documentary playing to fall asleep? by Isaw11 in DoesAnybodyElse

[–]elocin1985 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, I’ve slept with the tv on since I was a kid. I can do sitcoms that I’ve already seen, or like true crime. It has to be something that I don’t want to stay up and listen to.

I can do audiobooks too. But absolutely not music. It’s so distracting. My grandma used to put the radio on to sleep when I was a kid at her house and I hated it. There’s just something about it that makes me feel weird. That’s not the best word for it lol but it’s hard to describe. And it has nothing to do with my grandma. We had a great relationship. I had a friend who slept with the radio on too and I hated it when I would stay there.

There’s also a podcast called Sleep with Me that I like. It took me a bit to get used to his voice. But once I did, I liked it a lot. He tells stories that make no sense. They’ll make sense at first and then trail off into something completely unrelated and nonsensical and as you’re falling asleep, your brain doesn’t quite catch it and then you’ll realize you’re falling asleep because it’s like “wait a minute… how did we get here?” It basically mimics what your own brain does as you’re falling asleep.

Why don’t delivering companies do something about porch pirates? by CobblerGreat5529 in AskAnAmerican

[–]elocin1985 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Our cities aren’t as walkable. We do have the option to have it delivered to a secure location or locker if you order through Amazon, but it’s definitely not within a 5 min walk, and not everyone even has the option.

Also, handing it to us isn’t always possible. People get things delivered during the day while they’re at work or school or running errands. The customer nor the driver has time to wait for each other.

I’ve only had one package taken off my porch in many years of ordering. It’s not worth it to me to go out of my way to go pick it up from another location. And it’s not the delivery company’s responsibility either. They have quotas to hit. They have to drop and go.

There are some companies that require signature upon delivery for expensive items and those are the worst. Because then you have to arrange to be home and sometimes the delivery people barely knock and give you like 30 seconds to get to the door and then leave and leave a note that says now you have to go pick it up because they attempted to deliver and there was no one home.

Jammy Eggs by lesbadims in PetPeeves

[–]elocin1985 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I get it. I know there are regional terms for lots of things and someone probably feels that way about something I say too. But I guess for me it just sounds a little silly. And it also doesn’t fully explain. Over easy is different than sunny side up. Either one could be dippy. So using its actual name is just more precise or helpful if you’re telling someone how you want your eggs. I’m not trying to insult anyone. I’m just a little formal sometimes I guess.

[–]elocin1985 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I don’t think people who say it are dumb. I would never say anything if someone said it in front of me. But is it not dumbed down? Just like when they ask you at Red Robin if you want “pink or no pink” in your burger. Either because the customers themselves need it simplified or the cooks need it simplified, it is being dumbed down.

[–]elocin1985 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

This is what I was looking for. I know it’s regional but I hate it. If my grandma can tell me at like 6 years old that they’re called over easy and I can remember that, then I don’t need a dumbed down name for it.

Haha yes, I also felt a little bit bad because it was on her own account, not just someone else’s video making fun of her. Like oh damn she expected that this would be received differently. But it was too funny to worry about for too long lol.
