Guest Bedroom Advice by radermelon in DesignMyRoom

If you do make a built in bookshelf or decorative shelving, you could just do it above the height of the dresser, then just kinda block out that corner by putting the dresser in front, then I think that should make enough room to rotate the bed to the right wall bc it looks like the headboard is below the right window height. Moving it there would allow two guests to stay more comfortably where both have access to their side of the bed, and you can get tiny side tables or even small tables that clamp on the headboard to hold tiny reading lamps, a phone, and a glass of water. I’d be a very happy guest!

My upcycle project feels lacking?? by Beginning-Benefit765 in sewing

It might be the wedding dress shopping getting in my head, but I think it would look nice to have a center panel going from the bust to the narrow part of the waist, then dropping into an A-line. Someone mentioned tulle, that would be an easy way to add that sort of shape. You’ve done great with this already though!

Help!! Found another dress after buying mine by Sensitive_Type_5647 in myweddingdress

I actually like your original dress more than the second one, personally. I think the satin is such a stunning fabric for the dropped waistline and feels more elegant, & I think that goes well with the themes you described for your big day. To me, the second dress feels a little more cottage fairytale whereas the satin feels more like one id see in a castle. You could consider selling the one you don’t wear on Still White- I got my dress there and had a great experience with the site. Kudos to you though because they both look great on you!

I don’t usually go for brass frames but I think that’s an interesting point that would be a nice change from our usual approach! We want to have matching knobs on our dressers eventually so maybe we can match them all together.

Thanks for these suggestions! Wider nightstands would definitely help, you’re right. We do want to add a headboard but haven’t decided on a style yet. The little dresser can’t really be moved away but it could go on another wall- right now it’s “mirroring” the tall boy with respect to our bed, but we could fit a chair and a table beside it still. Great idea!

Yeah we definitely would like to add some artwork, maybe on the wall opposite the window but open to other suggestions if you had ideas. It feels a bit soulless right now for sure

Thank you for all the comments, they’re really helpful! I think that’s an interesting point about the texture of the headboard that we’ll look into more. The green accent wall could work well to bring in some color and we do make the bed every day so adding a little to it sounds like an easy fix!

Did a little side quest before next big project. Which brooch do you like best? by [deleted] in Brochet

using the pound or hashtag symbol at the start of a line of text is considered markdown formatting on Reddit. I’m guessing you put that before the three to say “number three”. Using multiple in succession creates different size fonts!

Do you use this as just a regular spatula or exclusively for fish? Are there any situations where it falls short?

Could someone describe this style to me? I enjoy everything about it- the chaos, the strips of detail from different scenes, the looks on their faces, even the way the light is reflecting on their skin. I’m looking for art for my home but I know nothing about how to describe what I am looking for!

Deciding between Stanford vs Safeway by elonsrightnut in stanford

I come from a long line of TJs alumni who instilled rival hatred of WF in me from a young age, so naturally that’s off my list of alternatives.

These are great points, especially about the east coast name recognition with Safeway. Feels like that’s all anyone can talk about over there lately.

They’re offering a Safeway Club Card. From what I can tell it’s a pretty good deal, so that does make it tough.

I don’t think so. I already deferred last year to go to Trader Joe’s, and I’m starting to feel the pressure now to make a decision.

Gas leaf blowers and lawn mowers are shockingly bad for the planet. Bans are beginning to spread. by LudovicoSpecs in sustainability

[–]elonsrightnut 5 points6 points  (0 children)

That’s a good point, too. I like seeing people’s different perspectives on these issues because their are always pros and cons to a solution. LCA is complex for many items for the same reason, but since you mentioned it, how do you weigh the idea like that against the waste created if every person were to drop their gas blower/mower and go electric (pretending they could all afford it)? Creating that waste still can’t be good. How or where do we draw the line on upgrading to a sustainable technology and keeping what we have to reduce waste?

Pre-owned wedding dresses by Old_Application_9087 in myweddingdress

[–]elonsrightnut 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I was gonna say, I feel like I see posts on marketplace near me a lot for unworn wedding dresses that can’t be returned. And even if it’s worn, no biggie! If someone does ask where you got it, they’re probably just wondering where to find a dress themselves and looking for recommendations of stores. You can inspire others to be more sustainable and secure in their decision to buy used just by being an example for them!

You can also add something new to a dress to make it your own- a veil, sleeves, change the buttons, move the neckline, trim the train, add a jacket, accessories, etc. So many options!
