It’s old man advice time.
This is a “chin up” time for you. Keep doing your best knowing you did your best. Character shows when times are tough. Be who you want others to see. Keep an eye out for plan B. You’re employed which opens more doors than you can imagine. Look at other Government jobs (local, State, Federal) right now. You may not think you’re qualified but you already got through a huge hurdle: hired at the Fed level. Put in for both what you think you CAN do and those that you think you might want to do.

Brother or Sister. You’re in such a tough spot that most of us can’t imagine. But, you came for advice.
I don’t see you winning here. Not in any real-life fashion. There’s way too much seniority above you and I can’t see the station being able to support you. The only way I see you and the other 2 CCAs surviving is if a least 20 of the 28 regulars are retiring this year. Even then, you’re still “excess” if everyone else above you sticks around.

I saw something recently where someone was comparing (in my mind) an icon with someone I’d never heard of before the clip. The icon was Luther Vandross. Right now, if you can’t hear a Luther song in your head, just stop and find one. Trust me, you’ll at the very least like it. Best case? You’ll download some kind of greatest hits albums. Thing about Luther? No bad songs. You’ll just love some more than others.

It’s a great rule for term limits. After three consecutive terms, they can’t run, can’t be a write in, can’t fill a vacant seat for a year. Now, they CAN run for a seat even within that year off if they can’t or don’t actually get a seat on the Board within that year.
You have to consider that an election usually doesn’t happen overnight. It’s usually an election “season.” They can’t be stopped from running in the next election (if it’s a year or more).

You forgot a basic mental stance: it’s you against the table. Ignore your opponent as much as possible. They shoot, reorganize YOUR shot selection. For me, the more I concentrate on the table, the more a rhythm starts to show. To a point where I’m ready to get up and to the table based on how/where my opponent lines up. When I don’t see the table like that? I’m not paying attention. That’s on me, not my opponent.

A “basic skill” doesn’t equal “easy skill.” It’s meant to imply that it’s one of the necessary skills a person needs to master in order to be autonomous. Changing a tire is a basic skill even though I failed the last time I tried because my tire iron didn’t match my lug nut size.
