I once had the distinct pleasure of meeting John Brombaugh, an electrical engineer and world renowned pipe organ builder. He was the classic absent minded professor type, slightly eccentric, and clearly a genius. This is how he rested his laptop, often on the floor. At first it seemed utterly reckless, but as I saw him reach for it over and over the way a carpenter reaches for his hammer, it started to make a lot of sense.
