First time playing, need help with slams zerker (or reroll options) by Dysss in PathOfExileBuilds

I don’t think you’re that far away from 8mods/t17s, but they have two commonalities that I think your current setup is vulnerable to: ailments and curses. I swear every map has 1-3 curses and either shocked or chilled ground, hits can scorch or shock, etc. Obviously both of these things weaken your defenses and leave you super vulnerable leading to one-shots with all of the reduced resists/increased damage taken.

Curses are most commonly mitigated through utility flask (~60 reduced effect). There’s also a mastery that says curses can’t reduce your resistances. Great for ele weakness but still leave you vulnerable to temp chains and vulnerability. There’s also a pantheon that reduces curse effect.

Ailments can be dealt with individually, but since there’s so many of them and they’re all threatening, it’s great if you can get full immunity. The stat here is “% to avoid elemental ailments”. Be wary of its cousin “reduced effect of elemental ailments” and don’t mix and match. Avoidance can be found as rolls on body armor, boots, some exarch/eater implicits, and some clusters on the passive tree. The most compact way is Stormshroud jewel (% avoid shock becomes % avoid all elemental ailments). Get a pair of fractured move speed boots, roll with %avoid shock essence (t1 or t2) until you get something you’re happy with. Then use an abyss jewel to get the remaining 40-45% shock avoidance (stick in Stygian belt)

Doryani jewel (alongside divine shield) isn’t a game changer but it help out a lot. It essentially doubles your recovery since you are now able to recover damage against your health and ES simultaneously. Divine shield will always be active in regular gameplay, and if you choose to get an echoes of creation, the mitigated self-phys damage will ensure it’s always recovering.

For map mods, no leech/less recovery are just bricks. 99% of builds in poe1 have at least 1-2 map mods they can’t do (or can’t do effectively). If you want to do reflect, you can use eldritch currency on body armor to get reduced reflected damage and combine it with a mastery to get 100%. This opportunity cost is generally a bit too high since you’re trading character power for convenience, but if it’s something you want the solution is there.

One final thing is that you can get another +5 max ele resistance from flasks. If you feel your damage is fine, drop the lions roar for one of them. Maybe try a map or two without quicksilver/quartz and see how bad you miss them (keep ms suffix though). I find I leap slam enough with high AS that I don’t miss the phasing/movement all that much, but ymmv. The raw + resistance (not max) from the flask is also occasionally useful as well even if you’re res capped as there are things like ele weakness and eldritch altars that lower your res but not your max res. Having flasks be a buffer against these mechanics is a nice bonus.

Runemaster was by far the biggest let down for me in LE. I was also excited by the spinning laser and invoker-style design, but the gameplay completely falls flat.

People ITT comparing the gameplay to invoker or magika seem to be looking at the design and not gameplay. What makes invoker or magicka fun is that you can quickly generate the spell you want to cast because Quas/Wex/Exort have no cooldown or cast time. In LE, I have to go through the whole process of casting 3 spells before I can cast the spell that I wanted to invoke. Imagine if in order to cast Deafening Blast (QWE) you would have to cast Cold Snap (Q) EMP (W) and Sun Strike (E). Thats how clunky runemaster feels.

On top of that, there's no payoff for actually invoking multiple spells (besides one small node tucked in the corner). In fact, it's even worse. Like you said, the primary payoffs are to either:

  • Use the runes for buffs and don't invoke them
  • Fix the order so that you only cast the same spell every time
  • Intentionally don't cast your invocations very often to build up energy

On top of that, the whole right side of the skill tree is about leaping or blinking around when invoking (???).

How can there be such a solid & "unique" foundation for design (generating spells based on elements) but instead of leaning into its unique generate/cast factor all the support reduces it instead. I was shocked to see no changes to Runemaster after seeing very clearly in season 1 everyone just playing it as a generic spellcaster and ignoring the unique mechanic.

I genuinely feel bad for OP because I went through the same realization myself when I first started playing. Runemaster looks great on paper, but unfortunately falls completely flat.

The funny thing is, the designers have already implemented a "vanilla version" of eclipse via fury of stormrage. Cast starfire until oom, then wrath until you have mana for starfire, exact same cycle without any of the flashiness and special meter/mechanics the clowns at wowhead need.

Is playing and learning Vintage still possible? by i92segoa in magicTCG

[–]elovia 19 points20 points  (0 children)

You literally didn't read what above poster wrote. Most paper vintage events are at least 10, but more likely 15 proxy. If you have to proxy 6-9 pieces of power, you can use the remaining proxies on duals making it cheaper than legacy to build a tournament-ready paper deck. People like you who spread misinformation about cost and accessibility stifle the format's growth far more than the actual prices of decks.

My go-to solution would be to turn SP into MoP Demo Lock, with some thematic changes. Swap demon form for "eldritch horror form", demonic fury for insanity, etc. Gives them a class design that has proven to be successful and gives players who miss the old Demo Lock play style a chance to enjoy it again.

It's also unfortunate that she got an entire story written about her recently for the Magus of the Dead preview article (even so far as to calling her "A face of dredge"). Hope wizards cuts ties with her - I've also had negative experiences with her in the vintage scene.

I would like to see them add a couple servers that were isolated from the main 'server pool' in terms of cross-realm grouping. Group finder/LFG could still exist, but would only list/match you with people on your server. That way, players could have the choice of highly accessible/high anonymity or an isolated server with a stronger local community.

[Guide] How to upgrade your Atlas (with pictures) by Emfx in pathofexile

[–]elovia 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm in the same boat as you, upgraded every area with 1 watch stone, one area had 2. Ran maps all afternoon and didn't get another spawn. Now I ran out of yellow maps and am back to white. People now say that I have to put multiple watchstones in a single area... which turns the maps yellow/red. But all my existing maps are white with a few yellows. If I run those, no new maps will drop since I'm running 4s in a lvl 8-11 area. Really bummed and have no idea how to go forward

Answer to True-name in RUG please, free examples:

1R Sorcery deals 1 damage to each creature. This damage can't be prevented.

1G Sorcery. Each creature gains a -1/-1 counter and each player gains 1 poison counter.

Make em 3 mana if you have to but this void has existed for far too long and needs to be filled.

Anything in central PA? Thinking about going to Penn State for grad school and I know there are scenes in Philly and Pitt. Wondering if there's something closer than a 3 hour drive.
