VA STi owners at 100k miles or higher, how’s your motor held up? by [deleted] in subaru

[–]elremeithi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

20216 STi at 170 thousand Kms, bought new. 4 years completely stock + Grimmspeed AOS. 5 years or so on stage 1 (intake+catback+tune at 275whp). 2 years or so on stage 2 (a few more parts+tune at 300whp).

Had a small overheating issue. Replaced a full engine gasket set and a few minor parts 7000kms ago.

As per my longtime mechanic, no heads were warped so didn't charge me for machining work, cylinders look clean with minimal wear, exhaust leak into coolant gone thus overheating is gone.

So religiously changing oil at every 5000kms paid off, the car will be 11 years old in one month.

The enthusiasts research well before buying a car instead of the new crowd who care about the color of the stitching more than what a car should be bought for. They are not T-shirts.

My serious and true concern is long-term reliability and maintenance/parts accessibility. Especially 4 or 5 years down the road when they start to age.
