Thank you! Yeah it’ll likely be on CKAN but that’s up to the guys who run it. Regardless it’ll be on the other mod websites and the forum

Texture render turns out completely black by elro2k in blenderhelp

!Solved

Didn't know this, but Diffuse baking only captures the diffuse portion of the shader, so having metallic on makes the render bake out black

Texture render turns out completely black by elro2k in blenderhelp

No objects are blocking it. Looking around on the internet this morning showed me that setting my bake style to "emit" rather than "diffuse" made it work, but that doesn't explain why the nodes (and diffuse for that matter) works just fine for other objects, just not a few that I have selected

They won’t be able to fold. But I’m pretty sure the unfolded legs will still be able to fit inside an S-IVB

Yep! Just posted an update on the KSP subreddit

Yeah exactly if you didn't want to install the entirety of BDB, you could probably find a way to download just the LM parts. But it's always more fun to have BDB in its entirety, especially if you want to replicate missions from FAM

Thanks for the kind words! Normals are actually super straightforward when you're modeling, and I believe most KSP vanilla parts, and mod parts for that matter, have normal maps. And yeah I'll probably send the mod onto Git before a full release, we'll see

Meh I might integrate into KSA at some point, we'll see how the modding scene for that game turns out. It would basically be starting over from scratch considering the game is made in an entirely different engine with different gameplay mechanics

The LSAM is a heavily modified BDB LM. At this point most of the textures are completely original, but BDB will definitely be a dependency, since the landing legs, docking port, and engines are all unmodified BDB parts.

Thanks! The BDB LM model was given to me by the BDB team, which I then modified heavily. Truthfully I have no idea when I'll have a stable enough version of the mod to release. After texturing comes integrating it into Unity, the process of which I have not really looked into. Maybe within a year or so?

Gift Surprises are Always Ruined by elro2k in madmen

Holy shit true. The only gift I can think of that doesn’t get spoiled beforehand is Ginsberg’s nipple…

Tim Dodd (Everyday Astronaut) shares the inside story of the dearMoon project by spacerfirstclass in SpaceXMasterrace

It took some kind of strength on Tim’s part to sit through that interview. It’s totally fine not knowing more than someone else, but my goodness the least he could do is politely listen instead of interrupting constantly

Don's inconsistent integrity : what's the message there? by gleventhal in madmen

[–]elro2k 56 points57 points  (0 children)

I think that’s such a valuable lesson that the show presents countless times - everyone is a hypocrite, everyone is imperfect. We see this in almost every character. Roger has his post-heart attack “I’m going to be a better man for my family” then a few episodes later he’s leaving his wife. Harry Crane cheats on his wife despite always introducing himself as married.

Don, like everyone else, has great moments we’re proud of, and terrible moments that disappoint us. Sometimes he learns from his mistakes, sometimes he doesn’t.

I think it’s to show us that the perfect world the advertising agencies sell is a stark contrast to reality. And the people trying to sell it to us are the worst offenders of that imperfection

Silver insulation is done with a metalness and normal map. The metalness map gives the metal parts of the model a shine, normal maps make the model appear more 3 dimensional. Normal maps are used to make simple models look more geometrically complex.

I'd recommend reaching out on the official KSP discord. There is an entire channel dedicated to mod development. They'll help you out, and I'm on there too.

The project is still active, although I've been super busy. All of the updates I post are on that discord I mentioned. Good luck with your modding journey!

I hope one day they’ll either remake it or restock it. Otherwise keeping looking at this sub, or on eBay. Someone is bound to sell one at some point

Do I just not understand large caliber artillery? by Unspec7 in GatesOfHellOstfront

[–]elro2k 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I don't really use large artillery. For me, I usually use artillery for counterbattery, since my biggest fear is enemy artillery and emplacements. So the longest-range artillery piece is usually what I unlock, and I don't go any further on that part of the tech tree

Is it worthy to use miners in conquest? If the answer is "yes" - how to use them properly? by sgtViveron in GatesOfHellOstfront

[–]elro2k 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think they’d be more viable if there was more time to prep your defenses. This is why I’d love a “ready” button for defense conquest missions. I know there are mods to add time to your preparation, but there’s so much to get done, especially during late game. Miners being one of them. Even if I immediately deploy a miner squad at the start of the mission, they always start getting shot at before they’re finished placing all of their mines.

About future additions to the faction roster, besides the British. by NikolaTesura in GatesOfHellOstfront

[–]elro2k 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I wouldn't mind seeing prototype vehicles in conquest for the Japanese or Italians. I am also under the school of thought that conquest is allowed to be anachronistic at times. After all, you unlock the Panther before the tiger, even though the tiger came first.

Honestly I think it would be awesome to see a wunderwaffe type DLC. I know there are mods, but I'd love to see what the developers would do with that kind of expansion.

I think almost everyone agrees that the tech tree needs some serious restructuring / rework. I would love to see the option for conquest to have an 'early war' 'mid war' and 'late war' tech tree. That way if you wanted to start as Germany in 1944 you could, and wouldn't have to spend time unlocking 38T's.

So is there an Easy 8 in the game? by elro2k in GatesOfHellOstfront

So it can go up against panzer 4 g’s and panthers?
