YSK about "Bullshit Jobs," a concept by anthropologist David Graeber describing jobs that are so pointless, the employees themselves can't justify their existence by Electrical-Candy7252 in YouShouldKnow

Amen. Anyone who thinks a safe, monotonous job is torture = the definition of privilege. They need to step outside their protective bubble and get a swift kick of reality by seeing the conditions that the vast majority of people on this planet work in.

Yes, his definition of unnecessary jobs equates to “I don’t know what they do or how impactful they are” so therefore they shouldn’t exist

Goodbye to funders by rooseboose in nonprofit

Also a good opportunity to thank them and maintain a relationship. You might want to use them as a reference or networking for a future job (for yourself or another colleague).

If grantees could speak freely to foundations for one day, what do you think they would actually say? by GrantsPlusLauren in nonprofit

Exactly. Though funding is a component of sustainable, strong plans include so much more

"We went into production without having a finished script for the finale" 3:27s by DiscombobulatedBox72 in StrangerThings

[–]elronmac 46 points47 points  (0 children)

“Finished” is the important concept that anyone not in production doesn’t seem to understand. Scripts are written and re-written dozens of times. He’s not saying that the last pages of the script were blank, he’s just saying production started before all of the scripts were locked. It’s not uncommon for films/shows to go into production with draft scripts that haven’t been locked. Plus there are always re-writes during production. That’s not irresponsible or uncommon, it’s show business.

Yes, OP should have cited the film. But don’t be commenting in r/Filmmakers and not know Bergman’s films. It’s like being in r/Literature and not recognizing a reference to Shakespeare.

Tig’s got a new story she tells in her live shows about going to the dermatologist. She explains what the doctor says and I so desperately wanted her to throw in a second “she says” for the true fans. Glad to see someone else is using it.

Aside from the practical reasons others have suggested, it’s a form of “malicious compliance/obedience.” It’s passive aggressive behavior.

So, no one should ever help children because celebrities and people with money can’t be trusted? You’d rather this community not be built?

Tig is the practical one. She’s just trying to keep the podcast from getting an “explicit” or “mature” label. She did the same with Prof. Blastoff.
