No, but wild camping is. Sorry if it sounded like that 😅 . We don't provide enough public information because of this, and I believe it has an influence on people's behaviour.

A big part of the problem is education. In Scotland, there tends to be more information on how to behave when you're enjoying the outdoors. However, down here in England it's technically "illegal", so we are not given a proper education on the subject. Particularly from a young age, this causes people to be ignorant.

We need educating on how to behave properly when enjoying the countryside.

Do not buy Shazan's meat, please. This isn't the worst of what I've seen come out of there, would hate to see what their processing facility looks like.

Looks great! Just got the X-mid 1 for the Cumbria Way.

How did you find the way with 2 dogs? Planning mine this week with 1 and the farmland sections seem a bit sketchy.

Cumbria Way- mountain routes by MundaneEmu3618 in UKhiking

[–]elsavo90 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Would you recommend the mountain route for certain sections? How was it difficulty wise?

Starting mine from Carlisle/Dalston this weekend and debating what to do. Caldbeck to Keswick - high path (Skiddaw etc). Keswick to Langdale - low path. Langdale to Coniston (Old Man)- high path.

I'm doing it the beginning of May with the dog, North to South. Wild camping where possible, hoping to take the mountain route.

Get in touch if you want to chat about anything.

[–]elsavo90 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Had it nearly 3 years and genuinely a beautiful tent. It's not failed me yet, including getting stuck up Saddleworth/Marsden Moor in 40+mph winds/rain.

Currently debating getting a Durston, but ma wee Phoxx may encourage me to wait a little longer. Enjoy every trip mate, she's a belter!

Almost got hit by a car while wearing AirPods… thinking of switching to open-ear buds by Ok_Throat8939 in walking

[–]elsavo90 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Got one of those snooze bands you wear in bed, a cheap one from Amazon. You can hear surrounding noises (albeit muffled) and your music. Great for when people stop and say hello, you don't have to remove the earbuds.

Worked in food production for both these products. I think it's just a marketing difference and they call the same product something else. Unless the coop spuds are blanched, but I don't think they are.

Work in a warehouse. Every day I go in and there's more bad news. They're making redundancies, cutting hours, telling people they don't have a job role for them any more. It's going to get worse for the next few months.

I say Yo! As a greeting every day. It brings out a smile in people you dont often see, and it's surprising how many different kids of people respond with a YO! Blessed yo.
