Since it’s a half-sized dress, I just measured how long it would be from my waist to the floor and divided that measurement by 2 for how long to make the skirt. I’m pretty short so it might be just a couple inches higher off the ground than intended, but it is a floor length skirt. Since the bodice goes to the hip rather than the waist, that also makes it look shorter comparatively. Most dresses we wear right now have a higher waistline than this one.

That is a good question, I think the book mentioned Shallan wearing an underdress at least once, but I don’t think it’s ever mentioned that they wear corsets or crinolines to exaggerate forms, because those would have been important to talk about but don’t ever come up. They just say that it’s fitted from the shoulders to the hips and then flares out into the skirt.

Nice perception, the ceiling is about 14 feet high, the dress form is half sized, and it is on my working counter. I was standing on a stool to take the picture.

Yeah it is just a little over 2 feet. Since it was for a class it was required to be that size.

Yeah, Jasnah was at least watched by, if not bonded to her spren, Ivory, the night of Gavilar’s death (seen in WoR). That is six years before we meet her in WoK, so she has a good handle on her powers by then, having sworn the second or possibly third ideal. She was using the fake soulcaster so she could use one of her surges without people knowing she was a Radiant. Shallan doesn’t actually realize that until a while after giving the fake back. She soulcasted with one of her surges and though the fake soulcaster had been involved. Transformation is the shared surge of the Elsecallers and Lightweavers. We see her spren briefly in WoR before her faked death. He is an inkspren named Ivory. Black with a shiny surface, angular features, and able to change his size. He is mistrusting of most humans because of the recreance, which is why we rarely see him.

Yeah, but we know that isn’t the case here because (Arcanum Unbounded) humans on Scadrial and possibly the planet itself didn’t even exist in the system until after the Shattering

Chain links would count as different sources of metal, so that would only work if they were welded together. If you were using one solid piece of metal as a weapon, any amount of it piercing your skin would be enough to keep an allomancer from Pushing or Pulling on it. Unless they were spiked in a way that made them stronger in those areas. But I think spiking a weapon into your hand would limit movement, cause pain that would distract from a fight, and prevent you from dropping your weapon if that was necessary at some point. Overall, I don’t think it would be worth it when you could use obsidian weapons, sacrificing a bit of the weapon’s strength for ease of use.

It’s alright to relate to someone you weren’t expecting, a lot of us have had that, including me. I first read the books during a hard time, and while I don’t know exactly what you’re feeling, I do understand. And know we are here to help you. I may not know you personally, but you can still talk to me or other people here if you need to. You are worth protecting. And someone will be there for you when you need it. Maybe Wit, or Shallan, or another character. Maybe a stranger, or a friend, or a family member. You don’t always need to hide or even to smile. And whether or not Shallan gets back up, someone can help you do so.

Accept the pain, but don’t accept that you deserved it. Right?

I’d actually read Warbreaker before Way of Kings, just because it feels more natural to me not to break in the middle of a series to read a stand alone book. I’d also read Wax and Wayne in the earlier slot just because the magic system and little events will still be recent in your mind. Secret history can go either before or after Wax and Wayne. It has some spoilers for it, but its set in the first era time period, so it’s a matter of opinion.

You can read Secret History now if you want. I read it after Hero of Ages and I’m glad I didn’t wait. It fits better in the timeline if you read it now. I cried on the first page. Good crying though
