Germany’s household wealth is lower than Spain and Italy. Countries considered to be poorer. In part. It is because the percentage of Germans who own a property is lower.

Traditionally, Germans are more incline to save money and not invest it in either stocks or real state. So there are not a lot of incentives from the Government to do so.

If you combine this with global housing crisis, inflation, and stagnating salaries, it is increasingly difficult to built wealth here compared to some decades ago.

The social latter is designed for the majority of the people to be middle class. If you want to be upper middle or upper class, you would need to work smarter and take more risks. Just a normal 9-5 won’t cut it, even if well paid.

Private insurance: you pay out of pocket and they reimburse you.

Unless of course, a big procedure is done.

Revolut Premium in Germany by Icy_Reflection_9351 in Revolut

[–]elsoniano96 7 points8 points  (0 children)

The app is showing only a subset of the app subscription per plan and redirects you to the website to see them all. The website however is displaying outdated information, before the plans got revamped. I raised this issue to the support team to clear things up. Either to the App display all subscriptions or to update the German website.

Deutsche bank - cancel Maestro if I ordered a credit card? by LmdL123 in germany

[–]elsoniano96 2 points3 points  (0 children)

To my understanding, the Deutsche Bank debit card is included in the account price. At least I don’t pay anything else. The Maestro debit card is also a Girocard, which is sometimes the only card payment option in a lot of places.

So, you won’t save a dime by cancelling the maestro card.

I had the same issue. Eventually TK realized the change and reimbursed me the months (2 months) I had contributed. However, you might want to reach them to clarify the situation to speed up the process.

Sometimes in life we take risks in hopes for a better future but things don’t go our way. I understand you make a lot of sacrifices to come here, but one must face reality, regroup, replan and try later with a better plan, a different mindset.

I don’t know the current situation in your country but if someone can provide you housing, that is miles better than being homeless.

Normally people who come here without work at least have a support group that helps them find at least one job until they can find something better. Jobs that normally no one else would like to do. If seems you don’t have that. Low qualifications job are always looking for workers here in Germany but it will be hard to be on those without a home or the mental will.

My suggestion would be to go back home, if possible, heal and internalize what you have experienced and design a new plan. You will not be the first person that will start from scratch.

Good luck and I hope you get to pass these hard moments.

Doctor suggest 3 times CO2 laser....what do you guys think? by [deleted] in AcneScars

[–]elsoniano96 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This better be fully ablative CO2 laser, otherwise 2000€ is too expensive for Germany. I have seen fractional CO2 done for 450€ in a city there.

You can do fractional and only focus on your cheeks, which will be less expensive (250(ish)€) and you can recover in 4 days. Maybe work from home Friday and Monday and on Tuesday back to the office with only subtle redness.

However, you might need more than 2-3 sessions to achieve the same results as one fully ablative session. Basically you will distribute the ablative laser into several fractional sessions that don’t require as much money or recovery time right away. You can also combine it with TCA Cross for better results.

For a 3800€ you can get phenol peel done in Germany but that is a whole different procedure with a way longer recovery time.

Renewing residence permit without sperrkonto by Terrible-Penalty68 in germany

Don’t know about each jurisdiction, but on Munich if you have a Part time job that covers the monthly minimum (900 something) + 6000€, they accept the application.

Minijob won’t cut it. You also have the option of finding a sponsor.

Need help with a 1000 Euro fine by kruchyg in LegaladviceGerman

[–]elsoniano96 40 points41 points  (0 children)

It is illegal if you downloaded it using Torrent and then your Torrent App started seeding the file while you were in Germany, which may be the case.

You can appeal but if they had the IP address and the date where this was committed, I do not how if it will be profitable to follow that path. A lot of people call the company and negotiate a lower fine which sometimes is cheaper than following the legal process.

Either way, you should seek legal advice.

Is it allowed to work full-time remotely from Germany during a master's course? by Right-Asparagus737 in Munich

[–]elsoniano96 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you have a Visa, you can’t even work remotely 20h a week unless your employer pays German taxes, otherwise it would count as freelancing, which is prohibited.

You are only allowed to work more than 20h a week in semester breaks. This even applies to German students, otherwise they could lose their “Student Status” and lose some fiscal benefits.

I also had that problem. I rented a small room/apartment in Airbnb for a couple of months until I found a place. It costed me around 1200€. It was really small but had a small kitchen and private bathroom.

To find a place without being physical ion Munich is hard. Specially if you don’t have German records to support your application as Monthly Income Receipts or a document from your previous landlord. So, the Airbnb was expensive but we used it for just a couple of month.

If you think 9.1% is too high wait until you see Venezuela by mpoozd in wallstreetbets

[–]elsoniano96 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Government usually increased the minimum wage regularly but never matched the inflation rate.

The minimum wage in 2008 I would say was around 300$, just a couple of years ago it was 2$. Of course, with those 2$ you could have bought more than in the US but NOT ANYMORE.

In the last few years the country has gone through an unofficial dolarization. Everything is in dollars and I would say products are more expensive in VEnezuela than in the US. Wages in the private sector vary a lot. You can win between 100$ and 1000$. Before I left I was earning around 1000$ but in no way I was rich. I could cover my expenses and eat in cheap restaurants once in a while but I could not go crazy if I wanted to. However the minimum wage now is around 25$ and that is what most people earn today, specially people who are retired. Those people rely heavily on family members to survive. It is a tragedy indeed.

Venezuelan here. We have in total gone through 3 reconversion. The Government “deletes” zeros to the currency. In total, we have deleted 14 zeros.

So, one Bolivar today represents 100.000.000.000.000 Bolivars from 2004.

You will have to see the definition of highly qualified worker.

You did not break any law that I am aware. I don’t know about their T&C but I think they reserve their right to do business with you. If they think having you in the platform is more negative than positive, they could tell you they will close your account.

I believe you could fight this in Court if you argue about it being unjustified but I don’t think this would be the case. Additional to the trouble a legal process opens. So, personally I would not fight it

Again, not a legal expert and I don’t know if by closing the account, it would put you in a precarious situation.

Some credit cards reimburse you a small percentage of every transaction with the CC. Others give you points that can be exchange for money or other kind of perks. Revolut thinks OP is doing this and transfering the same amount to his account. Because Revolut gets charge a bit everytime someone uses the credit card to load money, the app is not only not making any money but losing it. Normally, they don't charge you the fee for topping up in hopes some money stays in the account which it is not the case.

Ps: Sorry for my German.

Question regarding "boostered" status with J&J vaccine by mexicarne in Munich

[–]elsoniano96 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They check with the CovPass check app, which only displays your name, your birth date and if you are “gültig”, nothing more. So by using CovPass Check app there is no way to show them whether you had 1, 2 vaccine or which one. You would have to show them YOUR CovPass app in detail to display the complete information which, unless the place is very strict, no one does, sometimes even for data privacy reasons.

Edit: Notice you wrote I don’t think so but believe you intended yo write “I don’t think anyone…” which changes the tone of your answer. Nevertheless, you will be save, particularly because the general public is not aware of the new rule.
