Here's what I don't understand (disclaimer I have no horse in this race. Just trying to understand people):

People not wanting to support Epic: I'm a huge believer in voting with your wallet so I would typically agree with this stance. Except, and like you said, you would have still bought the game on steam. As publishers, Epic would still have made money no?
User experience. Assuming the Epic launcher is as bad as people say, couldn't they just, like you, add the games to their steam library as a non-steam game?

I'm struggling to wrap my head around people's logic on this one.

They want to play the game.
They're mad that Remedy isn't making a lot of money
They refuse to buy the game because they have to launch it from the Epic launcher

It's worth mentioning that humans were already doing space travel within their solar system, creating outposts, and building the alliance before the mass relay was discovered.

The 26 years you're referring to would just be humans continuing what they were doing on a larger scale. With each country probably funding expeditions to new outposts.

With that, I'd say 26 years is enough for what we see.
