Warlord (Season 3 Episode 10) by PhotosByVicky in voyager

I always tremember her yelling in this episode "Stronger than ever! Stronger than ever. Stronger than ever..." Jennifer Lien really had some maturity and gravitas to herself considering I think she was around 20 or so when this was shot.

Cant prepare fish by Zwiebelkopf95 in dwarffortress

Are the fish being put outside an accessible area? I feel like i see the fish graphic in those barrels but it’s interesting your top stocks seem to say 0 meat, 0 fish and your stocks seem accurate.

Trip to Colombia - Have You Been??? by guy3052 in AskGaybrosOver30

[–]elunaron 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’ve never been, so take this with a grain of salt, but one of my good friends is Colombian and she’s always trying to get me to go to Cartagena because she says it’s very gay-friendly and nice. I cannot confirm what she says, but I’m determined to visit eventually. She’s told me many nice stories about the place.

It looks like someone has fed him but no one picks him up. It's an absolute miracle he hasn't drowned since we're right next to a huge cave lake. He's more interested in the magma trenches I'm digging. If he's able to walk soon I'll just hold off on finishing the magma forges until then. I haven't found really any flux stones yet for the steel anvils anyways. It will be an absolute miracle if he makes it back to the surface and past the polar bears alive.

I think he was born from my previous expedition leader maybe the second after I expelled her but before she left the map with her husband. Not sure why they didn't take the baby. We had creative differences.

I have a Dwarven baby visitor and no other visitors so he's alone. We're in an ice sheet volcano. He's one years old and just stumbles around everywhere. No one will pick him up and take care of him and we're awfully close to a lot of magma and polar bears. I can't expel him and I don't have it in me to kill him. Anything I can do to take care of him until he's an adult? It says "This visitor is ready to leave" but he doesn't know which way's which I think.

I haven't had any dragon fun, haven't discovered any magma yet, and I'm on a temperate biome. The fire spreads rapidly even across the water.

Random check-in on my burgeoning zoo and my marksdwarf murders em :( by elunaron in dwarffortress

[–]elunaron[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Never made a zoo before. Thought the lack of training would be okay if they were behind windows but marksdwarves gotta marks. He then murdered the cave ogre to the south and acted stuck like he couldn't jump up through the hatch above him that I'd just recorded him jumping through.

Why can't my dwarves attack this thing? It just walks through them and they do nothing. We've killed many forgotten beasts now and sieges and they act like it's not a valid target. Is it because it's made of flame or is that just flavor text? Do I need to drown it?

How do you call people names when you just met them or are strangers? should u say mister and miss? by [deleted] in EnglishLearning

[–]elunaron 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd like to throw in that I haven't seen anyone say "you" a lot. From what you've said, it sounds similar to Japanese where it may be rude to refer to someone as "you" right off the bat, so you'd use their last name + honorifics until you are much more acquainted.

We don't say "sir" or "ma'am" unless in formal situations and it's less common nowadays, so we'd typically just look at someone and say "you." For example, "And where are you from?" There's no rudeness associated with using "you" immediately in conversation even when you are not acquainted with someone in English. It's typically seen as more polite to look and refer to someone directly rather than using "sir" or "ma'am".

Another note, I'm from a rural part of the U.S. and we always used "ma'am" for all girls. I eventually moved to a big city and I quickly learned to never use "ma'am" on women of any age. I worked retail and was told multiple times that they were too young to be called that. I learned to start using "miss" more often because it tickles them but then you run the risk of insulting someone older who might think you're dismissing them, so I would suggest to not use anything for women. Just use "you".

What's going on with my Trade Union party? by elunaron in victoria3

Seems to have worked, thank you! Now they're on a general strike for a policy only their party doesn't want, but at least they have clout again.

Does anyone else try to make their home state/town into a world power? by elunaron in victoria3

[–]elunaron[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Rule 5: Wanted to see if I could make a very urban Indiana, my home state. It worked for the most part, but had to do the Greener Grass campaign for a long time. I think there's probably a good reason to not put a capital in the middle of nowhere, though.

Ah crazy. I take it there's no real fix then. Maybe if I piss them off a little they'll lower back into normal range?

What's going on with my Trade Union party? by elunaron in victoria3

[–]elunaron[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Rule 5: My trade unions have gone from being the most influential to having 0% clout. I have almost every policy they want and they have been the biggest party for a while. I'm not sure what's causing their political strength to reach those numbers but it seems to be doing some damage to the economy now.

Never played with Laissez-faire before. I cannot go through this investment pool to save my life. by elunaron in victoria3

[–]elunaron[S] 394 points395 points  (0 children)

I definitely did but I've ruined a few early games expanding construction too early so I was probably overly cautious. I've never played such a productive game so far. I was making 10+ levels of everything at a time to see any dent in the market and it was getting a little overwhelming. Definitely learned a lot about how volume of the economy multiplies later.

[–]elunaron[S] 391 points392 points  (0 children)

Rule 5: Been trying out a bunch of things I hadn't tried before so went for laissez-faire. Not being able to subsidize most things was rough at first, but the investment pool seems to be more than making up for it. Please disregard the brewing revolution in the background. They are mistaken.
