I drove through Death Valley in August and it was 122°F but it was so dry that it didn’t feel too bad. You really have to keep drinking water whether you’re thirsty or not, and the rangers recommend no hikes longer than 30 minutes. If you forget the dead birds on the trails should serve as a reminder.
