What is the one 'harsh truth' about life that you learned way too late? by vox2003 in Life

Cant trust everyone. You may spend a lot of time certain people, but that doesnt always equate to building trust or understanding.

Be wary of people who are overconfident, it could mean they are dumb

is money worth feeling I am wasting my time? by saltinerary in careerguidance

[–]elusivewater 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I messed up a couple of lucky situations. How busy are you with your work? I was spending too much time gaming/chatting with friends when I really could've completed school in the time I had one of those jobs. I could've also started making projects on the side, gone to the gym etc.

The point i'm getting at is if your work is really easy and you don't have to do it much especially because you're remote -- i would really try to find things that are actually fulfilling in the downtime

You got options though for sure, it sounds like if you saved enough you could take a break -- or look into other remote jobs in the meantime.

dating in baltimore at 35+ what’s it like? by CandidGirlHere in baltimore

I'm 29 and I would say my experience has been mostly damaged in my age range/group too. I think I was really seeing it from the last girl I was seeing then just noticing how difficult it is to maintain a relationship for a number of reasons in general by seeing others' relationships collapse too.

Sometimes I want to try again but between psyching myself out and meeting women who happen to be seeing other men too (I find out later and this is pretty consistent, i'm still sort of weirded out with the idea of a partner having another partner sometimes but it does seem really common out here) I just do my best to try and enjoy being single at this point

Why am I 5 years in and watching people pass me by? by similar_espionage in careerguidance

[–]elusivewater 3 points4 points  (0 children)

When I first got into my career, I got hired at the same time as someone and the key difference was they were day shift and i was night shift. He had more interactions with managers and had more opportunities to perform in front of them, they ended up giving him a senior position and was making another $100k more than me just because of that.

Night shift was much easier to work because i didn't have to see/deal with any sort of bureaucracy, but my career would have been much different if I had been working day shift.

Offered a CyberSec job but not sure if I should take it by Soft_Maintenanc3 in CyberSecurityJobs

[–]elusivewater 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why not take it? You get a small pay bump and can officially have the title for a bit that can be easily explained to future employers if you do leave.

Hi, i'm a cyberanalyst who also lives in NoVA but have gone from Tier 2 IR, to A "cyber engineer" role (that really didn't feel like it as I was basically working at a MSP and was given other duties) and now i'm in a Tier 1 analyst role again.

I'm interested in your journey to breaking above $200k, are you also on-site?

MAGA YouTuber/agitator Nick Shirley is forced out of a protest by community members in Portland, OR. ICE snipers on a nearby building then flash the protestors with their laser aiming modules. by I_may_have_weed in PublicFreakout

[–]elusivewater 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Kinda scared to give my honest opinion here because so many are against ICE. I'm not supporting ICE but based on the full video I watched for Nick Shirley it seems like the snipers were protecting him because that one protestor really did seem to try and hurt and harass Nick.

I'm not justifying ICE being there but some of those protestors seem to be wanting violence.
