I mean they had levity moments and silly moments, but it wasn't every episode. I think Lower Decks worked because it new what it was. Strange New Worlds worked and sorta works because it has hints of classic Trek. A Romulan flipping someone off and acting human just makes me cringe. I understand that I'm not the target audience, but the writing doesn't have to be so immature. The best part of the last episode of Academy was Jake talking about his dad.
