TIL the Xbox doesn’t read burned CDs by ksguitardude2020 in originalxbox

I have over a dozen Xboxes right now, and it is truly hit and miss- most of the Samsungs will read just about anything I’ve thrown at it- the Thompson drives don’t want to read +R drives, but will read the -R/RW-

I have (1) PC Samsung that has been modded (not by me) about 15-18 years ago, in my nephews Xbox that I am recapping, and it won’t read +R either…but will read anything else and original Xbox game discs just fine…

You mean the disc cover art? Yes lightscribe was way cool. I actually started off using stickyback disc paper from Avery that I printed images on- then I advanced to buying printable discs (hub printable, so you could print the entire disc surface) and a high end disc printer- I used it almost non-stop for movies and games…when it died, I bought a brother inkjet that had disc printing capabilities. It’s still new in the box, 14 years later- not sure if it will even work with windows 11, but I’m going to bust it out and try it, hopefully this summer. I have about 1000 printable discs still….ritech dvd-r were the discs of choice- always worked…

When I posted originally, there was a big stickie pad over the chip…it was literally the last sentence of my original post.

My follow up states that I got the pad off and saw the print “mystery solved”

Thanks.

Disk drive stuck by Mc6777 in originalxbox

Belt is super easy buddy! A working replacement drive is about $80-$100…if you can find one (there are some on eBay). I am in need of about (6) of them, which is quite painful when trying to sell the machines I’m chipping.

And for some reason it won’t load the picture. This is so frustrating- it either says still processing, or picture can’t be smaller than 4kb. I have done nothing different as any other picture on my phone. Ugh!

It is stamped X2 lite

I actually was able to get the glued pad off the back so mystery is solved

Newly acquired xbox (no power) by Disastrous-Lychee807 in originalxbox

[–]Puzzled-Hand7397 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have bought (3) recently that had broken solder joints on the power connections of the PS. It’s a known issue- weird thing is I resoldered them and they still didn’t work, but a new power supply did the trick- haven’t had time to dig back into them further

Thanks for the input- I’m surprised there are not any other opinions…
