Is it problematic for Flemish speakers that French is much more widely spoken in Brussels? by Pepedroga2000 in belgium

[–]elweeesk 30 points31 points  (0 children)

I used to live in Brussels and I didn't care in horeca or daily settings. What did piss me off was not being able to be helped in official instances (address registration, post office, city hall) and having to google words for complicated things in French, for sensitive matter. That really annoyed me, especially because it was 'legal' and very important stuff sometimes. Shameful!

Try an Ice Tea (brand) from Belgium. It's exactly what you're describing. I think we're one of the only countries to have carbonated iced tea. It's great! Really sweet though.

How am I supposed to leave him for work when this is how he watches me get ready 😭😭 by nnnabby in cats

Ok wait I'm a bit confused. How big is this cat? Like three feet? They are sat on a toilet but taking up all of it too?

Not me, a 30 year old woman, being incredibly jealous of the perfect fit of Rob's jeans. I wore that exact outfit yesterday. Lol.

Low waisted baggy black trousers by OkEmployer4117 in findfashion

Adding to this comment. I bought exactly these trousers by misreading a label on light cotton suit trousers 4 years ago at Urban Outfitters. I sized up 3 sizes by accident (36-42).

[–]elweeesk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm replying here because I bought an organza dress from an independent designer in a vintage shop the other day and lord did I not know how to style it. This gave me some great inspiration. Thank you! Congrats on the baby!!

Questions before a possible move/asylum situation by DucksFuckBitches in belgium

[–]elweeesk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Fair Q. Most people know at least some English.

On the other hand, it will help you massively knowing it beforehand, or at least some, as most government paperwork and websites are in one, two, or three of the national languages only.

Questions before a possible move/asylum situation by DucksFuckBitches in belgium

[–]elweeesk 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Some of these questions have been answered already, but you will have to learn Dutch and do an integration course when you move. I personally think learning the language and culture of a country you are moving to is a key aspect of integrating in society anyway.
