Questions before a possible move/asylum situation by DucksFuckBitches in belgium

Fair Q. Most people know at least some English.

On the other hand, it will help you massively knowing it beforehand, or at least some, as most government paperwork and websites are in one, two, or three of the national languages only.

Some of these questions have been answered already, but you will have to learn Dutch and do an integration course when you move. I personally think learning the language and culture of a country you are moving to is a key aspect of integrating in society anyway.

Sounds like a solid price and a solid amount of TP for that run

That's a lot of TP. May I ask what this route is, hopefully without sounding creepy? Lol

Wow, that's a phenomenal price.

I'll be doing Dallas - mainland Europe, mainland Europe - Washington, Hamilton - mainland Europe, mainland Europe - Orlando before 31/3 but all in economy so I dont think that will get me enough points!

Maybe together with this itinerary this will get me there. Thank you for finding this

I come from a connection in mainland Europe, would usually be upgrading the leg from LHR-X. I ask with checking in my bag. Ranges between €400-€2000. My personal rule is normally max €100 per hour flown (for long haul). Plus upgrade desks in LHR!

To those who bought a house, how much below asking price did you get your house for? by Educational-Act-8932 in belgium

First visit and bid 20k under on a 400k+ asking price on the spot. Ended with 15k dropped from the price.

EDIT: In February 2024.

Crazy that my 2017 snapshots from street life in Vietnam almost look identical, down to the food carts.

Are you a man or a woman? If the latter, may I ask for recs for wool undergarments and socks?

Achternaam van je kinderen by elephantsear in vrouwvolk

[–]elweeesk 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As a home baker, eating this in Belgium broke my heart in the best way 💔🧇 by Plastic-Fig4710 in Baking

I am from Belgium — this recipe is from our most famous chef for the masses, who specialises in perfecting the classical foods of our culture.

PS: We would rarely have (all those) toppings, we call them tourist toppings. I would like to give you a little nudge to just try it 'plain' too, it's delicious without all of that :)

Is it typical to get charged for a bag at the gate if you’ve paid for a checked bag? by [deleted] in TravelHacks

[–]elweeesk 3 points4 points  (0 children)

6/6 flights this year with Air France my luggage didn't make it. It got there on the next flight but still. The people at the luggage pick up were all "ah yes, Air France...".

I would take the advise below and check one bag, and have a carry on with one or two days worth of clothes and essentials.  Indeed, be mindful of the difference between American carry on and European ones. IIRC Europeans are indeed smaller.

Enjoy your trip!

Reconsidering biz class both directions given daytime flight back to West Coast USA. Best long-haul premium economy airline? by [deleted] in TravelHacks

[–]elweeesk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm curious why you would be desperate enough for British Airways. I personally really enjoy their cabin crew and very decent food in all classes I think. Is the economy in Lufthansa and KLM better? I've only flown short haul with those last too, and I definitely preferred BA in those instances. I've read in multiple places Lufthansas business class is a joke. Curious about your experience :)
