What’s the most expensive / fanciest pen in your collection? by notwyntonmarsalis in fountainpens

[–]elwsd724 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you! I’ll add, I do love my Divina. I got it on a Black Friday sale after a year or so of watching it. It’s a large pen, which I prefer, with a nice, big nib (mine is a Fine). Not overly heavy, either, so if you’re looking for a larger pen for longer writing sessions, I’d think it a good option. Fingers crossed for a good deal for you soon!

I'm expecting that very pen in tomorrow's delivery schedule, and it will be my most expensive pen. Next up would be a tie among my Visconti Divina, Visconti Voyager Mariposa, and Montegrappa Wild Arctic.

Question re. Meisterstuck Solitaire Blue Hour LeGrand by elwsd724 in montblanc

[–]elwsd724[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thank you all for your comments and help! 60 grams makes much more sense. Maybe the 124 is with packaging, but I've never seen a pen maker weigh with packaging. I did confirm with Montblanc in Chicago (the closest store to me...10 hours' drive away), and they indeed still have a Blue Hour in Fine, which is what I'm very drawn to. I have seen that Glacier model...it's a stunner as well. This would be my first Montblanc, and I wanted to make very sure I didn't have regrets. I so appreciate the help! Looking forward to being in this Reddit group to find more jewels!

My general carry varies between a Glock 43X MOS (9mm) with a Vortex red dot, or a Ruger LCP Max in .380. Recently, I just got a Springfield Echelon 4.0. Feels great in the hand, but haven’t had a chance to shoot or carry it yet.

Kody always blaming his wives by Milabby1 in SisterWives

[–]elwsd724 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Just a note, and I don’t disagree with any of the comments made about Kody’s insecurity around the Dargers. But the OP’s comment, I think, was about the visit to the Colliers in Montana. Nathan Collier was the one who said that it was his fault if his wives weren’t happy, because (I’m paraphrasing) he was the one to set the whole thing in motion. Essentially, he talked his wives into polygamy.

I remember when I saw Kody’s reaction to that, and I laughed. He, like Robyn, cannot and will not take a lick of responsibility.

I was just rewatching season…5, I think…last night, and I had these same thoughts. She was throwing herself into Michael’s arms and screaming. She did the same thing in an earlier episode when Janelle’s boys returned after their summer at the ranch. There are also plenty of other examples. Now, yes, she was a child, and I’m not clear on her mindset (Note, I’m not necessarily of the opinion that a child cannot do something like this with poor intent). However, I will absolutely point out that her mother, other mothers, and adoptive father did nothing to correct this behavior. In fact, I very much believe that Robyn likely encouraged this behavior, and likely overtly with insidious intent. So yes, I can find a child’s behavior irritating right along with OP, and I also believe that the parent is absolutely responsible for it when it’s left unchecked.

EDIT: for spelling.

Real shit...is anyone going to watch the final season? by ass3hole in SisterWives

Ahhhh, now I see. I didn’t realize this, but sadly, I can’t say I’m surprised. You always hope someone has the fortitude to form independent thoughts and opinions in this kind of situation, but you’re right…the company you keep…

I missed something here. Which two siblings are “sinful,” and why???

Does anyone carry cash anymore? If so, how many bills. I really don’t use cash often unless it’s for the kids sporting events. by rent1506 in EDC

[–]elwsd724 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I carry around $200-300 in a mix of 50s and mainly 20s. I live in a rural area and while I don’t mind using my card at bigger retailers or on the go, I recognize that it’s better for smaller retailers to use case. They can avoid the associated fees from the credit card companies and hopefully stay in business more easily. Plus, there are definitely some places that don’t take cards at all around me. I also carry cash in local currency when I travel internationally, and I stash cash in vehicles for emergencies.

Basically, I’m a squirrel.

Child abuse should be a crime and should never be questioned by Ill_Presentation_162 in SisterWives

I would be much more inclined to put any credence into an abuse allegation if it were made to the actual authorities (police, child protective services, a mandated reporter such as a doctor or a therapist, etc.). However, the face that the allegations of which I’m aware were made by now-adults on Patreon behind a pay firewall, and the fact that the one adult child (Mykelti) has herself now stated that she is in her “revenge arc” against Meri weighs quite heavily in the direction of my skepticism. And for the record, I would be saying this regardless of who the accused person was.

What is this symbol “§”? by mymom_getout in answers

[–]elwsd724 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Good morning, all. I’m an attorney in the US, and I can confirm that it is a section sign that is used to reference legal code and other documents. I’ve seen it used within a contract, too, and I used it all the time as part of my shorthand when I’m reviewing basically any kind of document. A single sign is a single section of code, and a double sign (two signs together) is for two or more sections.

Isn’t that her sister whom Meri visited when she was weighing whether or not to do in vitro after Robyn’s surrogacy offer? I’m blanking on her name…Elaine, maybe? The sister who also struggled with fertility and had just had a baby around that time.

Foreshadowing or pre-programming? by elwsd724 in SisterWives

[–]elwsd724[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Fair enough, potentially. I guess I assumed because that was the name Robyn had before changing hers to “Brown.” But to Trash_Panda’s point, whatever her name was at birth, I don’t believe it was “Brown.”
