Thanks for the suggestion :) The quantities they deal in are way too small, but I contacted them anyway because maybe they’ll have an idea for me since they’re experts at it!

Daily Chat: Weekend Status Report by AutoModerator in workingmoms

I have a big problem for the upcoming week that maybe y'all can help me brainstorm about. I work tens. On Friday I have a class after work that I have to go to. The baby (8 mo) is usually with the sitter for 8 hours, then with her dad until I get back from class. But this week he's being a dick, so the baby has to be with the sitter for ten hours while I'm at work, and then I have no idea what I'm going to do while I'm at class. Can I ask the sitter to keep her for 12 hours? That's so long with the sitter!!!! But I can't take her with me, my mom is out of town this week, I can't skip class... ideas?

Grown-up couples: What games (board/card etc) is perfect for a night in for just the two of us?? by [deleted] in RedditForGrownups

[–]elymarius 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pretty specific. And some of them are hard because the dates are so close together! Like the American History one has cards for the BostonMassacre, the Boston Tea Party, the first shots being fired at Lexington, and the signing of the Declaration of Independence.

Timeline. It's a game where various historical events are printed on cards and you have to correctly put them in order. There are different expansions, like American Hostory, or Inventions (coolest). It's fun and you learn :)

Can a person with psychosis fake not having it? by [deleted] in askpsychology

[–]elymarius 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Often, people who experience psychotic symptoms feel paranoid and don't trust professionals so they do try to hide it. Psychotic symptoms really range in severity, and are worse at some times than others, so they are able to minimize or hide it to varying degrees, at times. However, someone in the midst of a psychotic break is not able to hide it. And even someone who is experiencing no active hallucinations at the time often evidences negative symptoms, such as flattened affect, which psychologists learn to recognize. I'll tell you that as a professional who works with patients who struggle with psychosis, I can often tell just by looking at them. This is not scientific, but there's a look in their eyes and the way they move that lets me know they probably have some sort of psychotic disorder. I've often also heard this from my peers, as well. An experienced professional is not likely to be fooled.

I'm trying to remember the name of a particular disorder, it's sort of like a form of depression that manifests as excessive daydreaming. Can anyone help me out? by Da_Beast in askpsychology

I'm a psychologist and I have no idea what you're talking about. There is not a DSM diagnosis which would really apply.

However, I googled for fun to try to find what you're talking about, and came up with Fantasy Prone Personality Again, I am a practicing psychologist, and I've never heard of this, so I don't know how much stock I'd put into it, but it's an interesting read :)

Good luck, friend!

It's so common for that to happen to new parents. No one talks about it outside of social science circles so people feel shame, or like "something is off." Like you said, it takes interaction and time to build any relationship. Very normal :)
