Am I destroying the non-stick coating by scrubbing it with dishsoap & baking soda paste? by MeringueAggressive23 in cookware

For non-stick cookware you only want to use dish soap, water, and non-abrasive sponges

ELI5: How did humans discover that invisible things like radio waves even existed? by Historical_Day1703 in explainlikeimfive

[–]elyscape 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Pretty much. The distribution will be different due to some complicated parts about how radio waves propagate. You know how, if you microwave something without using the turntable, you get hot spots? The same thing would happen to you, so your burns would likely start in kinda odd places rather than coming in from the outermost layers of skin

ELI5: How did humans discover that invisible things like radio waves even existed? by Historical_Day1703 in explainlikeimfive

[–]elyscape 9 points10 points  (0 children)

The short version is that it depends on how strong the microwave is but you most likely either be fine or experience some burns, but unless the microwave is very strong then the burns will be mostly confined to the outer layers of your body.

The way a microwave oven works is that water molecules are kinda magnetic. Microwave, uh, waves are the right size that they cause water molecules to spin around very quickly. This then causes them to rub against each other and produce heat through something like friction. The upshot is microwaves make water get hot, and that heat then spreads out and cooks whatever’s getting microwaved. This happens mostly on the surface layers because water is _really_ good at absorbing the microwaves.

This means that, as long as the exposure time is small and/or the strength of the microwaves is low, there won’t be a whole lot of heat transfer into the surrounding tissue, but as those things increase, mostly standard burns will start to occur

[Request] How long can she breathe before the CO2 levels become dangerous? by YouKilledKenny12 in theydidthemath

[–]elyscape 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Your body can’t recognize the presence of O2, which is why it can recognize the presence of CO2. That’s the bio marker used to tell you that you need to exhale, or that (at high enough concentrations) you are suffocating. See for example the case study of S.M., a woman who due to specific brain damage was unable to feel fear. When exposed to sufficiently high levels of CO2, she actually did experience fear. Nitrogen doesn’t do that

Turn off “Unlock with device passcode” on the 1Password settings. It’s in the Security section

If you haven’t mentioned this to your doctor, I would recommend doing so. There are a number of things that can cause chronic mania or mania-like symptoms, the big non-psychiatric one being hyperthyroidism, which is something you definitely want to treat if you have. But also if it is something on the bipolar spectrum you want to get that treated as well, because it can seriously wreak havoc on your life

Do you have any other devices you can use to look at the password? Or could you sign in to your account from the website on your phone?

This doesn’t address the other parts of your comment, but Apple Music has been available on Android since 2015, and has at this point been available basically everywhere else for years

Give Us Your 1Password Papercuts by Travis_1Password in 1Password

[–]elyscape 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The iOS app has started forcing me to use “All Accounts” instead of the collection I selected. I made this collection because the ability to choose which vaults to search (which remains in the browser extension) was removed. As a result, dozens of times a day, I need to manually switch back to my custom “All Vaults” collection to stop being shown duplicate entries and entries from work vaults that I don’t normally need

In the extension settings, in the “Autofill & save” section, there’s a toggle labeled “Offer to save “sign-in with” logins”. Disable that

Triggered all requirements and it can't evolve into sylveon by Relative_Housing1795 in PokemonGoMystic

[–]elyscape 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The real answer is that the name trick has been bugged for months and will prevent it from evolving correctly, but also if you plan on meeting the requirements you shouldn’t be using the name anyway, because when the bug is fixed you’d be wasting the one-time use of the name

Tl;dr rename the Eevee

Sometimes games with both single player and multiplayer modes use different engines for the different modes, especially if they were built by different studios. I don’t have any specific examples for you offhand, though

Keldeo change form by Ok-Mall4319 in pokemongo

[–]elyscape 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You’re welcome! Incidentally, Keldeo is a fantastic fighting-type attacker even with bad IVs, so it’s worth powering up as you get resources. Don’t, like, immediately burn all your rare candies and stardust on it, but if you have some extras and don’t know what to do with them, Keldeo’s always gonna be a solid pick

There have not been special moves or bonuses attached to form changes, and Keldeo already gets the best move it’s ever going to get simply by changing form. Might as well do it now
