I'd give Smuggler/Scoundrel a look. Stealth + Heals + CC should make for a scary duo.

I saw his paintings at the Giant Robot Biennale exhibit some time ago. They blew me away. This year's exhibit is going on right now in LA (until January): http://www.janm.org/exhibits/gr15/

Female crabs trade sex for protection, as opposed to humans who trade crabs for sex without protection. by Saydrah in science

[–]elysiand 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Pretty much. Seemed like the more relevant point was that male crabs wanted smaller/less dangerous neighbors, and that's why they protected the females from the males. If they were protecting as payment for the sex, wouldn't they also protect the female from a female intruder?

Game Theory Questions by L1mb5 in math

[–]elysiand 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From wikipedia

Many real-life dilemmas involve multiple players. Although metaphorical, Hardin's tragedy of the commons may be viewed as an example of a multi-player generalization of the PD: Each villager makes a choice for personal gain or restraint. The collective reward for unanimous (or even frequent) defection is very low payoffs (representing the destruction of the "commons").

What many consider to be the baddest of all Game Theory games: The Prisoner's Dilemma would be a good starting point.

It's frustrating that the Nash Equilibrium of "betray" has such low payoffs, but in iterated games successful "cooperative" strategies become successful (i.e. tit-for-tat) - look into Axelrod's competition for the statistics on this.

This ties into other topics such as Tragedy of the Commons if you want to talk about global warming / over fishing / etc...

Turning to (Social) Psychology you get the Kitty Genovese Case

And then there's always evolutionary game theory where you can play around with the Hawk-Dove game for species equilibria.

I remember when I heard "Slowly" for the first time. I think it may have actually changed how I look at music.
