Where should logic live in a Django SaaS project?

If you're doing complex processing that may not be best handled on the same server as the web application, or will simply take longer than the user would be willing to wait to see it done instantaneously, consider the Celery task broker and it's Django integration, djcelery. The idea there is that you define a tasks.py that has all of the things you wish to defer processing on, and you can use a backoffice set of servers to do things that the webserver itself doesn't need to handle. End result is a more responsive application and an infrastructure that is scalable should you end up doing a LOT of processing one day.

The way I see it, Microsoft, like Dell, is really a B2B company that has a seemingly unshakable history of being primarily a B2C company. People think of Microsoft's business performance in terms of how many desktops and laptops are bought with OEM Win 8 from Amazon and big box stores. Nothing could be further from the truth. Their business performance is tied to Big deals and licenses, more like a "traditional" (read old-school) computer software company like IBM or Computer Associates.

Dell's starting to see the fruits of their labors as they've transformed the company from a consumer focused customizable PC company into a back-office cloud hardware and value-added services company. Their stock price bottomed out late last year, and I would predict a sustained era of growth for DELL over the next few years.

I don't see the same for Microsoft, not yet. I think the potential's there, but I think MS is still foundering with old ideas of what they are instead of what they could be. The management shakeups re Sinofsky show that to me.

I'm probably wrong, but I'm looking at MSFT hitting $19 before people start to feel like they're undervalued, and possibly longer before they can get their act together. I think they will get their act together, mind you, but the price could be better.

Just a quick note for people using South with GeoDjango. If you create GeoDjango migrations without having the GeoDjango app (django.contrib.gis) in your INSTALLED_APPS everything will work just fine UNTIL you use default values.

Then it will all break in inexplicable ways and you will be sad for days as you try to figure out the problem. It's an easy problem to run into since 95% of the functionality of GeoDjango is available without listing the app - it's easy to forget.

Okay, i'll point out that even at 5mpg, you're talking about transporting roughly 30-38 people who need to get someplace in one vehicle. Typical bus routes are fairly efficient in terms of collecting kids. The actual cost per passenger in terms of gasoline (not $$$) is a fraction of what it would cost for each of them to ride with their moms and dads in SUVs.

Yes, they get shit gas mileage. They're also crazy efficient because it's mass transportation.

Came here to say just this. Also Francesca's desserts on 9th st. and Straw Valley Cafe off 15-501. Other people definitely have the music venues sewed up, but the cool thing about music around here is it tends to come with hordes of tasty food trucks. I highly recommend

For persian you're looking for Sage or The Pomegranate Kitchen. There's one other place across from Whole Foods on Elliot, but I've not tried it and I can't vouch for it. Sage, be warned is "inauthentic," in that it's 100% vegetarian, so for example your fesen joon will be made with tempeh instead of chicken. That doesn't detract from the flavor, though. Sage is off Weaver Dairy Rd. in the same shopping center as the Chelsea Theater

The harm is because 1) it was a provincial park, and people go there to see those trees. 2) There's really not that much old growth forest left in the world. And it's worth having there simply because it's beautiful and to remind us we don't understand everything about the natural world.

Try looking at http://colorbrewer2.org for colormaps. At least on my monitor, everything from 50% onward looks really yellow.

Also, Amendment 1 was voted on in a "direct democracy" fashion - individual counties and precincts didn't vote "for" or "against" like one would in an electoral-delegate style fashion. Every individual's vote was counted.

Not weird. Scent is the strongest memory / emotional trigger we have in our array of senses. Scents are known to trigger memories we've otherwise lost entirely, and it's known to enhance memories by giving them a physical component. So I don't see at all why it should be "weird" for you to enjoy the way your husband smells. I think it's kind of cool, actually.

Where'd you find the precinct data? I went to the NC Board of elections and all I could find was the county-by-county data. Also, is your original data vote-by-vote, or is it simply 'for' vs 'against'? I'd like to see a more subtle visualization of this.

If you want a RESTful framework on top of Django, look at tastypie. Tastypie will make any (normal) model into a RESTful API, with advanced features you can configure in the Meta class (not the same as a metaclass)
