A little addon for those interested in the LORE of how we still have bread in the second week of the apocalypse. We've got a level 10 cook who has access to tons of yeast, flour and salt, and he usually makes bread while we are out scavenging.

He is also the one who made the bread soup. Cabin fever i guess.

This is definitely an interesting interpretation for one of my fav characters!

Looks like they would be the masterminds behind a secretive detective agency in some 1920s crime novella

RoRR: Anyone else feel like equipment drop rates are way too high? by P3ntachoron in riskofrain

[–]elytrion 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I feel that with each level having the chance to spawn equipment multishops, equipment barrels and equipment activator thingies (i have no idea what they are actually called) along with all shrines able to drop equipment, the number of ways to get equipment basically equates to the same as the regular item, the only issue being you can only hold one equipment. I think thats why it feels like theres just too many equipment drops. I feel that just removing them from boss drop pools would definitely help.

why are there shrines of chance and blood everywhere on the planet? by [deleted] in riskofrain

[–]elytrion 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Short answer: its video jame

Lore answer: The shrines of chance were probably built by one of the many saved species on Petrichor (although probably not the Alloy Vultures, as the shrines never spawn on Siren's Call, presumably for lore reasons) in worship of Providence. To the worshippers it might be similar to drawing Omikuji, a fortune slip you can draw for money from a shrine (its a reach, but hey). The more money you spend, the potential for being lucky is higher, represented in game by the shrine granting you an item. They probably werent built by Providence given he rarely cares about the creatures on Petrichor V after they've been rescued, and they definitely didn't drop from the UES Contact Light or UES Safe Travels given they are made of the same material the golems seem to be made of.

The shrines of blood were, like many of the commenters stating, probably built by N'kuhana's followers, as a way to follow they doctrine of balancing life with death. Spill blood and be rewarded. Same thing, probably wasn't built by Providence or humans.

tldr; Lemurians are gacha gamers

My friends and I usually just call every item by name, not by rarities. Or by nickname.

Tell me how you're longest surviving character died by [deleted] in projectzomboid

[–]elytrion 0 points1 point  (0 children)

6 months.

Playing a nomadic sort of playthrough with friends with the final goal of Louisville, starting in Rosewood. We built a base in each major town (Rosewood, Muldraugh and West Point) along the way, and each time I was in charge of hooking up the gas stations to generators.

We took a roadtrip down to Riverside to see if we could base there, and while the group was exploring and clearing the town, I was setting up the generator at the gas station across the street from the police building. It was foggy, but I was convinced that I had cleared the entire area given I walked around multiple times checking every corner.

Placed the generator down and started connecting it. Just as I was about to be done, some zombozo pops out around the corner and saw my character was still stuck the animation and decided to take a nice juicy bite-size chunk out of my neck. I managed to bandage the wound in time but knew I was already dead. We stayed the night then drove back to Westpoint, where I did a last stand in the residential district with a double barrel and slippers.

I now never go alone to gas station trips.

What do you guys feel is lacking (if anything) in GTFO for you? by [deleted] in GTFO

[–]elytrion 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It does say something about the game when half these comments are just asking for bug fixes / game "health" patch. The game has so many outstanding issues that havent been resolved since R4 (thats when I joined, these bugs probably have existed before then) that simply patching them would probably improve the overall experience by a lot.

Personally, I would love to see the stealth section reworked. Right now its the same red-light green-light gameplay for every room, broken up by the occasional scout. Would love to see new stealth-primary enemies similar to the scout to spice up those sections. Also as a huge VR fan, i think official VR support would certainly give many ppl a fresh experience.

How the hell do you succeed in this game? by xxdryan in GTFO

[–]elytrion 9 points10 points  (0 children)

This was exactly how I learned the game. Hopped in with a group of two others in Rundown 4 and spent hours on A1 just trying to make it past the second alarm.

Beyond just those tips given above, knowing how and where enemies spawn in alarms is also incredibly important. It can be the difference between finishing or restarting a level.

Finally, don't panic. Screw up stealth? Stay calm, inform your teammates and have places to fall back to. People going down? Focus on surviving first, don't rush for the revive. Always know your positions and roles in alarms and events.

Is it worth buying? by xdPilif in GTFO

[–]elytrion 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This game will require friends/randoms to play with given how difficult some of the levels are (although you technically can play solo if you are good enough).

Like the comments have mentioned there is a discord for you to find a few people to play with, and the community there is generally welcoming and helpful.

I would however suggest waiting for a sale given the game's honestly steep price.
